Hey! I am new to the forum. I just got a baby bunny almost two weeks ago. I had been thinking about getting a rabbit for a long time, but I decided I would just sort of let one find it’s way to me… So, I was at a flea market, and this man had several babies. I saw one, fell in love, and had to take him home. He’s white with tan ears, a couple face freckles, and a stripe of spots down his back. I was told he was two months old, but I doubt that. I’ve been asking everyone… does anyone have an idea of what breed he is? What about his age? I am trying to get an idea of how big he will get. He’s a real sweetie, running around my room right now! I am so glad I found him.

Ok he has the cutest face! I love the third picture. I don’t know a ton about other breeds but I’m pretty sure it’s not a Netherland Dwarf…and that’s about all the help I can give you.

          Congrats!

He doesn’t look like any kind of dwarf. The dwarf breeds have short ears and obviously not a lop. Not a havana either. Hm… He looks about 3 or 4 months. I would say he’s a mix… like a rex english spot mix would be my guess. I could totally be wrong, though because the english spots have a dark ring around the eyes. I’m just making a guess as to where the spotting down the back is coming from. Average size of that would probably be about 6-8 lbs. He’s the cutest thing since sliced bread, I will tell you that. hee hee. Welcome to the sight by the way. It’s been extremely helpful for me and I hope it is for you too. Usually get quick results to posts any time of day. Good luck. Post more pictures. 😀

I would guess he’s a bit older than 8 wks like you were told. How much does he weigh now? Also, if you were told his sex at the market also, be prepared for that to be different also.

He does have faint markings of English Spot. Is that a bit of tan around his eyes? The E spots have eye patches, patch over nose, a cheek spot, line down back and dappling on the sides. Yours looks like it has faint eye patches, part colour on the nose, and bit of a line on back. You’ll probably find his colour will deepen as he grows and new markings appear. My doe Jersey had that very pale tan when I got her and about 10 weeks old.
Being a flea market bun, very likely he’s a mix of different breeds, so the only one I would guess is in the mix is the E spot!

Regardless of all that, he is CUTE!   Congratulations!  What’s his name btw?

Thanks for the comments! I think he is pretty cute myself. I absolutely adore him. 😀 I am struggling with names. My friends want Godzilla, my mother wants Peter, and I just kinda want to wait for the perfect name to come along!

I was thinking he was younger than 8 weeks. I am glad you think he is at least that. I’ve never had a rabbit this young, so that’s why I was curious! The last rabbit I had was a rescue rabbit that was getting beat up at a pet store by the other rabbits. He was older when I got him, and he ended up passing away.

Jerseygirl — Yes, he does have a bit of tan around his eyes. I figure he’s got a lot mixed in him. I was just wondering what some more experienced rabbit people thought he might be. I guess we will see how he turns out!

Because he is white, how about Pat the Bunny for a name?

Oh, I love your new bunny, too! Welcome!
It’s hard to determine which breeds he could have in his blood… I do see the rex possibly, too, because of the springy look that his fur has and also a bit whispy. His nose is pudgy, so he *could* have lop in his ancestry. The ears are too large to be a dwarf, but in the third picture it looks as though the base of his ears is pretty wide like it is in the dwarfs. E. Spot I can see from his markings… wow, he could have a lot of different breeds in him indeed.
I think his breed is called the Cute-As-A-Button breed. Call him … ‘Macaroon’ — ‘Macky’ for short!

There we go now we know what he is. Cute as a Button breed.  I must agree.  I just love that face of his.

He’s adorable. I think he’s a mix too and those are really the best rabbits there are in my opinion. What he’s a mix of, probably cute, adorable, and sweet…but really the breed, I have no idea.

I know you are curious to know but really, breed is not the most important thing :~)

I was very curious about breed when I got my baby this year, but as she grew it became easier to figure out. I am sure yours, like mine, is a mix, but I definitely have English Spot in Sammy and it’s become more pronounced in her body shape as she’s gotten bigger. Yours (swoons into faint from Cuteness. Sorry. I’m OK now.) looks like there’s a little English Spot with the ears and back, but I am also reminded of a Florida White. If her whiskers get curly, not straight, there could be some mini rex in there. If he coat stays super soft as an adult, that’s another mini rex trait since they come in all colors and patterns.

Cute as a Button genus, Snuggle Bunny species.

IF THAT ISN’T THE CUTIEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THING!!!! Welcome to BB.com!!!… If I had to guess I was would say maybe english spot/rex/dwarf/????????? mix! HAHA!!! Its really hard to say, I agree with others it will probably be easier to tell once he’s old. A vet may be able to better tell you to.

I hope you get as much help form these WONDERFUL people on here as I have…and continue to get everyday!!! =)

Haha, thanks for all the cuteness comments! 🙂 I think he is great. He is very social already and just seems to have a great personality over all. No matter what breed he is, I am totally in love with him!

I really do look forward to being part of this group! He is my first indoor rabbit, so I am real excited. I’m tempted to get another… but, no, no, no! I must resist the temptation, at least for now. Along with him, I already have two dogs, a cat, and a horse!
