I’ve been calling vets this morning to try and figure out some prices.  One vet I called said it would be about $90, and another said 79.50 plus 26.00 for an exam=$105.50 are these usual prices for a male neutering?  I want to get all three of my boys done, one is 4 years old, will this effect anything?  Should I hold off on getting him done and get my 6 month old or 1 year old done instead?  I’m going to call a few more vets in the next few days to try to find the best option.  I think the first option sounded like the best option because they use a different kind of anesthesia  for rabbits and she mentioned this right away, and they knew right away that they actually spayed/neutered rabbits, the second option had to ask if they neutered rabbits before she told me.  The first option is also the vet that did emergency surgery on my previous rabbit’s foot when she was attacked by a stray dog while outside in her exercise pen they were very kind about it and did a great job and she was 5 years old at the time.

I just called the first vet back and I think i’m very comforable with them. She said the full price would be $90 which is awesome. I think they will do a good job with them like they did with my precious Houdini and her foot. I will have to get them neutered one every two weeks since I get payed every two weeks at my job. What do you think though about the 4 year old getting neutered?

I would ask the vet about it and see what the vet says.  You can always call the clinic and ask to have the vet give you a call when they have a chance as you have some questions concerning neutering one of your bunnies in particular due to his age.

Is bloodwork included in the price? and pain meds?  Has this bunny ever seen a vet before? any medical conditions or past treatments?

I think 4 years old is reasonable- there are a lot of other 4 year old rabbits that underdo anesthesia for dental issues- and a neuter is less intrusive than a spay and hopefully quicker than complicated dental issues.

absolutely, the 4yo old should be neutered wihtout a problem. you might need to do bloodwork beforehand if the vet feels its necessary. like Katnip said, double-check what is included in the price. does that include the pain meds and initial exam? each bun will need to be seen before the surgery. i think those are awesome prices! some members have paid 200 or more for neuters, so i think that’s wonderful!

Yup, my vet just did our six year old male for adoption with no problem. They should be aware of age though-I think they have special precautions for that. Neuter should be no biggie, I think with a spay they would want to do a full work up first as it’s more invasive.

And that’s a fantastic price!! With a discount when our non-profit status comes in we’ll be paying 129$ (currently 220$) so that’s a great price!

I think that $90 is great! I had a vet in Los Angeles that only charged $90 for a neuter, and he was fantastic at it. Unfortunately he moved and they closed the vets office It was a sad day in the Los Angeles bunny world that day! Its also good that you feel comfortable with the vet, that is very important. Asking some of the follow up questions that were mentioned above is a good idea.
