          Hi Eddie

Don’t feel bad, getting her spayed was the kindest thing to do in the long term! While we can project our emotions on to rabbits, I can guarantee that she doesn’t feel sad that she can’t have babies. She’s just being driven by her hormones.

After a spay, rabbits often have a hormone spike as their body adjusts to the spay. This is probably what has caused the false pregnancy, although I haven’t heard of spays causing false pregnancies before, with the hormonal fluctuations it makes sense.

The only other thing to check is if it’s definitely a nest? Sometimes rabbits pull fur out when they’re in pain, and if she didn’t get pain meds after her spay that could also be a potential cause of pulling out fur.

Has she been eating and pooping?

Yes, she would have had false pregnancies before she got spayed due to hormones, and now that she’s been spayed, there’s a temporary hormone spike while her body gets it figured out. But after she’s been spayed for a few months, it should stop, probably within the month.

You can get rid of the nest or leave it, I don’t think it makes a difference.

Has she recovered from the spay okay?
