Most rabbit rescues here will only take bunnies from the 11th hour list (euthanasia) from Animal Care and Control and the Humane Societies. (unless the rabbit is ill or injured – then they may take directly) They usually are just overwhelmed saving the bunnies from being euthanized that they will not take in bunnies from private parties.
Did she mention why she was surrendering? Maybe refer her here and we can help her solve some of the challenges. Otherwise if she surrenders to a no kill animal shelter like the SPCA and/or humane society, they will at least find a home for her bunny. Note though: No kill shelters doesn’t mean they don’t euthanize. What that actually means for most is that “adoptable” animals will not be euthanized. If an animal is sick, ill, aggressive or has behaviorial issues that can’t seem to be solved with some training then that can lead to euthanasea, and with rabbits being so misunderstood when they are scared, that can sometimes lead to a sad turnout.
