Need creative litter training advice pls!

So many people post how their buns have zero poo and pee spots ouside the litter box and I’m so jealous! Mine are super super messy and do it on purpose. They are all litter trained but one loves to protest with pee and they all like to put poo where it doesn’t belong when I’m not looking. I’ll sweep up while they watch and when I take it to the trash an come back, they’ll have left a couple replacement poos; if I don’t sweep up the replacement poos, the pile will get larger and larger each day – there’s like a poo requirement, must place the same amount of poos found in spot everyday so the number doubles everyday -_-.

I finally got my carpet cleaner so I cleaned all the visible spots, cleaned the litter box and put a few poos in, and overnight, there’s 8 pee spots and over 40 coco puffs scattered on one side of my room! This is all right beside of two litter boxes and a hay box. I’ve evern been confining them in this area for the past month so they know it’s they’re area. There’s no spots of poo between this area and their own room (so another half of my room plus a hallway).

Help, I’m running out of ideas…

I had to laugh out loud at this post. I think you practically described my two bunnies. Except they live in an X-pen but it’s the same story. Both are spayed and use the box MOST of the time. My dwarf pees and poos where she pleases. Some in the box but a lot all over the cage floor. And my bigger girl never pees outside her box, bless her heart, but she will just poo wherever it strikes her. Sometimes she poops laying down and she gets up and there’s a big pile. When I try and sweep up and put their poos back in the box, they attack the little broom. As if to say “How dare you sweep up my poop. I left it there for a reason!” And I stopped putting towels in the cage because that was almost an open invitation for my dwarf to throw herself a pee party. I now have jute placemats scattered around the cage which she still pees on, but they are easier to clean and once in awhile I throw them in the tub and rinse them off. I wish I had creative ideas for you as I’m struggling as well. For the last 7 years my rabbits have developed bad bathroom habits that are tough to break.

I have almost all carpet so it’s very tempting I guess but in their cage, it’s linoleum and the protester still likes to pee on that too. I’ve lined areas with straw mats, tried shower curtain by itself, tried shower curtain with towel or blanket on top, tried just carpet, tried 50% or area as litter box, and none of these have worked. If I give a stern “no,” they’ll run a few feet and finish/continue their business there.

I think most bunnies are very messy. It’s extremely common for a few poos to be left around. Sometimes they get stuck on their feet as they leave the litter box, and sometimes they just feel like marking their territory. I consider mine well litter trained but they do occasionally pee on their rug, and will pee anywhere with enough hay (to them, hay means it must be a bathroom spot) so I have to pick up any hay messes before they have a chance to pee.

I understand a few scatters but what’s left around here isn’t the scattered ones from jumping out of the litter box or stuck on feet. They just like to sit and poo in my room. Ms Protestor leaves exactly a few drops here and there. Maybe the pee spots make up some form of braille… There’s no hay on my floor; I have a hay boxes which are placed right in front of the litter box.

They were never this bad in my previous residence; it’s like the more comfortable they are with me/the house, the more they do as they please.

My pees almost everywhere when he gotta go when I first got him, but now he seem to go mostly in a box with his poos and pees…probably 80% of the time.. LOL but whenever I let him out to play and he pees on the floor, I just soak it up with tissue and place it in the box where I want him to pee in… but I still perfer bring him to the box as soon as i spot him ready to go so he will alway pee in the same area… as for poo, I read that it’s their way of marking their locations so I just pick it up and throw it away lol…

I’ve seemed to notice that my rabbits tend to get too comfortable as well, with pottying on the carpet and digging/chewing the carpet. There’s a little corner where they always seem to dig where I’ve put some newspaper and some cardboard for them to play with, chew, rearrange, dig, etc. But I’m trying to use a clicker when they do something bad or a loud couple of claps.
