Ok, so my bunny Comet has outsmarted me (big surprise).  He is in the house somewhere, I just can’t find him.  What do I do?  It’s been roughly 20mins that he’s been missing for.  How can I get Comet to come out from hiding?

Does he have favorite treats? Can you try to shake the can or bag? I’d try to shake it in each room to see if you can coax him out.

Does he hate the vaccuum cleaner sound? Maybe that will get him out of hiding too.

Thx for your reply.  He was found safe and sound.  My hubby found him in a closet.  I need to better bunny proof before I take my eyes off him for even a second.  I was worried about him hiding and me having to go to sleep or work and still not finding him and then something bad happening to him.  I was almost in tears this time!!!  I will not let that happen again.

Question; do you think bunnies can learn their names?

Whew – I’m so glad you found him safe and sound.

I’m glad you found the little dickens.  I think that bunnies learn their names or at least the sound of them. Now whether or not they will come when called, I’ve heard of some rabbits that will do that but mine usually come running at the clink of a cookie jar or shake of the papaya tablet or acidophilus tablet container. They are very treat oriented. LOL

Can’t take your eyes off them for a minute, cheeky things they are.

glad you found the little stinker!  my bun snuck into the closet right in her room and right behind my back once.  i unknowingly shut her in there and then proceeded to panic cause i couldnt find her.  thought she was under her dresser when i closer the door duh!  took me a few mins to crack the mystery.

once i fell asleep on the couch while watching a movie & forgot my dog was chillin on the porch (he can’t escape & he has water out there… likes to hang out there in the summer while i vacuum).  i woke up forgetting he was put there & ran allaround the house lookng for him.  finally i noticed a very grumpy  face peering in at me thru the screen door.  lol.

lucky you’re not as silly as me!

Glad he is safe. Fu would hide in certain spots including the boyfriend’s base drum. You could make her come out by rattling the papaya bottle or yelling carrots….she would come flying.

Shadow is a whole nother bunny….he comes when you call his name, when you rattle the papaya bottle of he hears you cleaning his cage…EXCEPT…when he makes a break for it in the morning before I go to work. You can call and rattle till your blue in the face and your arm falls off. He really is a master manipulator. His room now has 2 baby gates stacked on top of each other. You would think we had a killer dog in there instead of a 4 pound bun.

When I couldnt’ find Kokanee-she was also in the closet…I usually sit on the floor and call them to get them to come out

And…Kokanee definitely knows her name and usually comes to it! ACtually I can’t even name the number of people who’ve said “holy does she EVER know her name!! ” and were just soo surprised! Just use the name when you talk to your bunny and she should learn it !!

Thx for all your stories, they were great!  Love the dog on the porch one and ‘the killer 4lb bun’, lol.  Once my sister took my dog home for the weekend b/c I needed a doggie sitter and about 15mins after they left I was in a panic b/c I couldn’t find my dog!  lol

I think Comet is learning his name but my husband thinks I’m nuts and calls him ‘George’ to prove a point.  lol

They love hiding places! I have to close all my closets because before I know it, Kahlua is in one and I can’t get him out! That’s the reason my bunnies don’t have free range. I can’t keep an eye on them all the time. Once Kahlua hopped out of my office and down the hall. I didn’t think I would ever find him. But I think he thought better and turned around and went back!

My Carrera is over 4yo now but when she was a baby I was home alone playing with her and she slipped behind the fridge and found a little cubby hole and fell asleep. I was a wreck, called my husband and demanded he come home to help me get her out. She was fine-just sleeping! lol
