So my rabbit is very loveable and clever but also very cheeky and naughty! He sees bunny proofing as a fun challenge and whenever he gets told off for naughty behaviour such as biting the wallpaper, he binkys! Even when I’ve ran up to him, used a stern voice or even give him a gentle tap on the head he’s not scared in the slightest- he doesn’t even bother running off, unless he’s doing a running binky! Is this normal?

They don’t understand the reinforcement we give to them. My rabbit does things I hate like when she chews my earbuds while I watch youtube. I would instead use positive training such as when they come up to bite the wallpapers distract then with a treat such as a carrot piece or a healthy bit of fruit, just make sure it is rabbit safe and then once they leave the wall alone reward them with the treat. I would also recommend you get chew toys such as a timothy biscuit or a willow ball, even a empty toilet paper roll cut at the sides will allow them to be safe while having destructive fun. Remember to let your rabbit express himself and binky to show how happy he is. I encourage my rabbit Caroline’s binky’s because she loves to do them when I wake up and when I bring food. I wish you the best of luck with your little troublemaker.

Sprocket is the same. I give him something else to chew when he starts chewing something he shouldn’t. generally he is really good but he tries at times non the less.

Believe me, Wooly knows exactly what “no” means. Leopold doesn’t because he can’t hear me say it. They both know what it means when I come marching over there when they are being naughty. When they were younger, they would show their delight more as well. So yes, I believe bunnies do naughty things “on purpose” because the naughty thing is fun. So what if they are caught? Right? It’s like a game for them.

He has so many toys and things to chew, I even build him toys from boxes, like I made him his own “tree” with willow sticks, he loves it but he also loves the wall next to it! Tbh it’s mainly funny seeing his cheeky side, earlier tonight he kept tipping over my cup with his head just for fun! Just worried by going for walls and attempting to eat everything he is doing his insides damage! X

Bombur will watch my reaction while doing something naughty. Like he’ll look at me, start chewing the wall, hear me say no, look at me again, chew the wall some more, and this will repeat until I get up. As soon as I get up he’s like oh sheet! and runs away. He constantly gauges my reaction to see what he can and can’t get away with.

Haha…what a stinker. My little Mini Rex was the same way.
