I’ve been allowing Mimzy more time out on the bed lately, as he’s not much of an explorer, but I want him to have time out of his night pen as much as possible. If I put him in the xpen in the kitchen, he just sulks in a corner until I put him back in his house.

So he’s been such a good bun…sits with me and actually bumps up against me now for cuddles…he almost did a flop into my side the other day! He has become a real snuggle bunny. And of course, the good thing about having him on the bed is he can ‘interact’ with Fiver a little bit. They mostly just sniff noses. (I keep a hold on Mimzy so nobunny can get a chunk out of the other one.)

Well today they got good scent of each other, then all of a sudden (even though I had the litterbox sitting right next to us) Mimzy turns around and starts to lift tail on the blanket! (under which I had a puppy wee pad for just such an occasion) Ahhhgghh! I pick him up and plop him in his box. He gets out…turns himself around again and tries again! I repeat the process. He gets out a third time and actually manages to leave a little puddle right on the edge of the pad…and in full view of Fiver who is just looking on with his usual bugged out expression.

Needless to say, Mimzy gets a firm “No! Bad bunny!” and I return him to his night pen. Cuddle session cut short by bad behavior.

Or was it? I’m thinking now he was just tyring to let Fiver know who was Boss Bun? (seeing as with Pip, he is definitely the henpecked husbun…you can just see “Yes, dear,” written on his forehead around her)

I wasn’t upset with him…these things happen. But I was kind of surprised as most times, he ignores Fiver and mostly just wants my attention. He knows darned well that if he pees anywhere but the litterbox he goes back to the night pen. It wasn’t a huge amount either, he just left a little ‘calling card’.

        Silly bun.

I think a feisty Mimzy is a healthy Mimzy. Sounds like he’s feeling much better and ready to take on his surroundings, which include that pesky Fiver.

hehe! How can they be so cute and such rascals?
I think of it as something akin to writing your name in the snow.

Y’dun wanna make them up here either…lolz. “Don’t eat the snow, where the huskies go…”

Yes, he is a little better, but he’s been getting doses of benadryl for the last two days because I still have clear discharge coming down his upper lips and he was sneezing early this a.m.
I’m wondering if the branhamella is just like pasturella, but not as contagious?

yep, sounds like a bunny to bunny message. If you do decide to bring them together up on the bed again, I would have some towels on standby to put underneath (while you say “NO”!). Ultimately you are the boss of the bed, and only you can pee on it. LOL. But seriously, it was good that you cut it short because though Mimz WAS giving a message Fiver, it didnt’ take away from the fact you needed to let them BOTH know that you are the boss of the bed.

The good news is at least  they he was showing dominance in a non-aggressive way, so maybe you could try bondng them in another neutral territory where he would be allowed to pee to show Fiver who’s boss.

lmao…BB! Good grief, I hope I’m not THAT old yet! ^_^ *buys more puppy wee pads just in case*
Yeah, I think I’m going to try to put the boys together in a neutral spot. They do seem interested in one another and I don’t want to spoil the bed play area for both of them. How wonderful it would be if they bond, but I’m not holding my breath!

Sadly, looks like all three bunnies are tending to sneeze lately…but the Benadryl does seem to help for the most part.

Wait so peeing in front of a rabbit is a dominance expression?

That explains so much! Thistle peed in front of Fern twice in the bath tub and it might also explain his peeing outside the litter box!

Could deliberate peeing in front of human be considered a dominance move also? That would explain alot about Jersey!

MLW, Both mine peed in the bath during bonding (another reason why bath is so good – easy clean up.) Jersey did it the most and she always aimed straight down the drain!!! lol
