I’m not sure if anyone will actually be able to answer this question, but opinions would at least be nice.

I was buying some bunny plants yesterday but couldn’t find violets/pansies but did find an Australian native violet which is in the same genus Viola. I know that African violets are questionable but they’re in a different genus, whereas common Viola species and their cultivated varieties are considered safe to feed leaves, stems and flowers of to bunnies. I was wondering what you thought my chances were of safely feeding the native violet which is Viola hederacea.

This is the Aussie violet: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viola_hederacea

Ultimately the answer is probably “who knows” in which case it’ll just be a nice ornamental in my garden anyway

Apparently the flowers and leaves are edible for us, so I assume that they’re rabbit safe too??

Oh really? I must have missed that snippet of information while trying to research it. Will have to delve more into that after work today. Not everything human safe is rabbit safe, but it certainly makes it more likely, especially since most violets are already safe to feed.

            Thanks
