My mom came home with ‘napa lettuce’ today. She got it and was very proud of herself, since she thought it looked kinda like endive. Ive been lookin for endive so she was quit excited about it lol. But i cant find anything on it. Its not on any good or bad list ive found. Any ideas? Normally i would just ditch it, but like i said my mom is very pleased with herself for finding this and she usually doesnt show much interest so i want to make sure its no good before i crush her enthusiasm lol.

EDIT: And yes i spelled it wrong in the subject! Its one p not two lol, figured that out when i went hunting for pictures. ( dont even bother Beka lol, I need to learn to read those before i hit submit lol)

Every once in a while I get Coco some Napa – I think it might be more closely related to cabbage than lettuce…but it does have those nice crunchy juicy mid sections.

Because I have thought it was cabbage related, I only give it to her one feeding cycle ( for me that is 3-4 days – the length of time one group of greens is purchased and prepared) per month.

Hi Bunnyliz! Napa lettuce is otherwise known as Chinese Cabbage.   As with any cabbage watch out for gas, runny stools and any unusual reaction.

Here is more info and recipes for it:

Hey BunnyLiz, veggies are so confusing huh! I buy curly endive regularly and bun seems to like it. Endive has many names and types. i.e. chicory, frisee (curly leaf endive) and escarole (broad leaf). Then there’s they variety names of Chicory, escarole etc – YIKES! Anyway, hope that helps some on your endive search.
