My little girl Addie has recently started chewing on the top of her front paws or nails! She is down to her little pink skin. She hasn’t punctured herself at all, just pulled the hair out. I have looked online and it says they can do that when they do not have enough to chew on or get bored but Addie has an entire room to herself with lots of different kinds of chew toys as well as an unlimited supply of hay which she takes advantage of. I just can’t figure out why she’s started this!

Do you have hidey houses for her and cardboard boxes for her to rip up? Does she have a bonded partner? Is she spayed? Has she been to a vet to make sure she doesn’t have something under her nail making her want to chew at it or have teeth issues that make her want to chew on her nails that provide her a pain reliever?

I found the cause! Fleas! She was itching and it was causing her to rip some of the fur out as well, it’s all taken care of now and Addie is feel much better already (:

After lots of research and calling my vet I used advantage flea medicine for small cats! Cleared up within 24 hours(: (You just have to be sure your bunny is a certain weight before determining whether it’s safe to use or not, I just managed to weigh her by putting some dandelion greens on my scale and she jumped right on!)
