I’ve had my rabbits for about 2 years now, and they still seem to hate me. I’m [edited be forum leader] and live in my parents house, and my parents say that they’re completely my responsibility. i’ve read around on this forum and i heard stuff about “putting them in a quiet location”. my rabbits are in what we call the great room, which is basically a kitchen/dining room/partial living room. basically, where most of the stuff happens in my house. the issue is that they always have blenders, vacuum cleaners, and TVs going on a lot, and that seems to frighten brison and charlotte, to the point where they don’t trust anything without food involved. i’ve tried talking to my parents about moving them up to my room, but they say stuff like “oh they’re fine just where they are” and “they’ll get used to it.”. they shouldn’t even be talking, because i know more about rabbits than they do, and the only animal in this house they really care about is the stupid dog . (sorry, just thinking about it pisses me off.). they live in a medium sized cage with an x pen that they can go in and out of whenever they please, and a little shelf that they like to climb up and under. whenever i try to pet them, they either get frozen in fear, or they just run away. spending time with them is out of the question, because they just hide in my cage, and my parents never shut up, so that makes it even worse. if anyone has something i should tell them, or something i should do, let me know, because i swear the rabbits are more comfortable with our puppy then they are with me, and it’s depressing.

Hexagonal, doesn’t it work if you click on the link?

Most rabbits need lots of interaction to stop being fearful of humans, and it’s always harder to bond with rabbits that have bonded mates. I don’t think the noises in the house is necessarily bad for them, rabbits do get used to busy surroundings. In the city I live in there’s lots of traffic and humans and dogs and still lots and lots of wild rabbits in every park.

Rabbits dop like food, and its good if they associate their human with food. Single rabbits also like cuddling, but that’s less of a need with a bonded couple. They get social interaction and grooming from each other. That’s very good for them, even though it’s perhaps not as rewarding for the human.
