So "roxy" had a vet apt today and I ask the vet to just double check the gender for me since alot are mistaken. ANd the outcome… my litte girl Roxy is a boy! It took her about 5 minutes to make sure that it was since he’s only 2 months old.  ANd I had the vet at the shelter double check before we brought him home so bonding would be easier. So here goes the renaming, I have a few ideas from name storming her in the begining and came up with a bunch of names but they were more boyish, so when the hubby comes home we’ll pick him a new one. If we had him longer and calling him roxy that long we’d keep it but it’s only been 1 week.  Some that are on my mind:

Mumble (the penguin from Happy Feet, since he’s a Dutch 🙂 )

        Domino

        Gizmo

        Harley

Uh-oh :~) I like Mumble too. I really don’t mind Roxy for a male either – reminds me of Roxy Music.

i would just keep Roxy… it’s cute regardless of the sex, i think.  i know some other people on here have kept the name after realizing their bun was the other sex.  what does the vet say about bonding them now?  is he confident it will still go well?  they get along right?

I think I’m adding Hudini and Bond to the list of possibilities due to his escape from his area this morning and not able to figure out how!lol. We got Roxy from the surf brand and laughed that we’d call him “quick silver” (roxy’s brother brand) if it ended up a boy,lol but thats a little long for me.
The vet said it will be fine for bonding and just suggested the nuetral bonding ground and all the same bonding techniques. So far Mr.B and “roxy” are sperated since they aren’t altered yet, which Mr.B will in a couple weeks and “roxy” is a little too young, but since they aren’t altered and both males we don’t want them to have territory, testostrone, spraying, fighting issues so we’re going to wait until atleast Mr.b gets nuetered to introduce them.

Angoragirl seems to be having very little problem bonding her 2 males Henri and Acorn and they are not neutered yet.

I had a pair of boys bonded for a short time until one got sick and was at the vets constantly for awhile and then the other male started picking on him. I think if they had been bonded for longer than about a month they would have been bonded for good but because Mango got ill so soon into the bonding it didn’t work out and for Mango’s safety I had to separate them.

So two males can be done! At the sanctuary I help at we also have a few male pairs as well. Granted they came in that way, but they had to start out as singles at some time so I know it’s very possible.

We also had someone adopt 2 male rabbits that they fell in love with and bonded them too – another example.

Thanks! Do you think I could introduce them before being nuetered then? I’d love to let them play together if they will but I just don’t want any fighting or spraying.

I know the golden rule is they should be altered, but my girlies aren’t fixed yet and they did fine, no fighting ever and bonded instantly’ They even take food out of each others mouths without nipping!…Maybe you could *try* them together, if you were readied to break up a fight (maybe have someone with you?); I’d say if they do fight not to try them again until they are fixed as you don’t want them to hate each other! I’m sure that first meeting would give you an idea of if it’s going to be difficult of love at first sight!
