About a month ago I got a call that stopped my life. My business partner and best friend had died. Emma was a three year old mini rex. I am a reading teacher and she and I worked with kids struggling to read. She was a registered therapy rabbit and also belonged to R.E.A.D. She and I were also getting more and more involved in the sport of rabbit agility. She LOVED it! She flew over the jumps. I only had to take her through a course once and she knew it. She was also getting to the point where I could tell her where to go and she would just do it. Emma was amazing! I have no words to describe how awesome she was.
I had to to the vet with our other two rabbits and he discovered she had an abscess on her jaw. I scheduled her for surgery and we went on vacation for the weekend. The couple that was taking care of her run a bunny bed and breakfast. I know them from the Minnesota Companion Rabbit Society. On Sunday evening, I answered my phone to hear that my Emma had died suddenly. It turns out the abscess was farther advanced than was first thought. I blame no one for her death. Except maybe me for not being there for her. Her bond mate, Eddie, has had a bit of trouble adjusting to life with out her. He is getting into trouble a great deal more.
We all miss her like crazy!
