Momo’s teeth had to be extracted due to bad malocclusion 4 months ago, but one tooth broke off and the root didn’t get extracted properly. Because of this, we have to wait for the new tooth to grow out to attempt pulling it out again.

Momo is progressively getting more anxious and angery, probably due to pain from growing tooth. It is just peeking out of the gums now, but certainly not large enough yet.

She overly digs and scratches at every possible surface, nibbles a lot and gets fibers stuck in her mouth. She didn’t mind getting picked up before, now she scratches at me if I put her on my chest.

Is there anything I can do to ease her? She thumps a lot and is a sad fluff overall.

Poor baby Did your vet give you any pain meds? Those might help her be more comfortable until they can extract it.

The vet also might be able to grind down the sharp point of the tooth so it isn’t so painful as it grows in.

I too think she should get anti inflammatory pain meds. Ranitidine is sometimes prescribed with pain meds to protect the stomach lining.

Serving her vegs cool right from the fridge could perhaps have a soothing effect on her gums. If she likes to chew, willow could be a good idea, the bark has small amounts of salicylic acid and that’s a natural antiinflammatory. My bun liked to chew on willow when he had a tooth problem.

Is she eating properly? If she isn’t you should support-syringe feed her Critical Care or give her Critical Care in a bowl if she’ll eat it voluntarily. Weigh her weekly. She won’t benefit from losing weight on top of everything else.

I’m very sorry she is having these problems.

Both my bunnies used to be more cooperative when I tried to pick them up.
Now they struggle and kick unless I hold them against my chest.
I think it’s just part of them growing up.
That being said, try not to pick them up unless absolutely necessary.
