It sounds like sore hocks, but I can’t be so sure.

What kind of cage is your bunny in? If it is a cage with a wire bottom, it is the issue. Rabbit feet are not padded like other animals, so the wires will hurt their feet.

As long as they are not bleeding, red or infected there’s really not much you can do for sore hocks, the hair won’t grow back. This is common for most rabbits, specially Rex ones. It’s more common on rabbits who live in wire bottomed cages or hard serfaces, but can happen even to house bunnies.
If you feel they may be infected see your vet and they will reccomend something. I don’t think i would put Vasiline on it, honeslty i wouldn’t put anything on them unless there was an issue. Hibitain cream is a animal safe antibiotc cream that works.

It does sound like sore hocks, and the advice about wire bottom cages being a problem is correct. You mentioned that it bled at times, so I definitely would bring your bunny to the vet. We cannot prescribe here, only suggest based on our own experience, but every bunny is different and needs a diagnosis from a vet. Things like vaseline are very risky because anything that is on the bunny will be ingested by them when they lick themselves. They groom all the time, so you can be sure your bunny will be ingesting some of it.

I do want to say welcome to both you and your bunny. Please let us know what the vet says is wrong and prescribes.
We also like to send {{{{{{{{{{{Healing vibes}}}}}}}}} which seem to make bunnies get better faster.
