So a few months back my family got a handsome angora from a family friend who no longe wanted him. He’s been absolutely amazing and for the most part happy. However, for the last few days he has been drinking all of his waterbottle in a day (and its winter here) he hasn’t been eating, and is a lot more grumpy. We’ve decided that if this continues for five days he’s going to the vet’s, and today is day 4. I’m really worried, does anyone here know what could be happening?

He hasn’t been eating for 4 days? He needs a vet asap. It could be teeth problems – he could be drinking lots ot water to try and lubricate his mouth if he’s in pain/discomfort. But really there is no possible way we would know what the problem is and if we did know, he’d still need veterinary intervention.

When a bunny doesn’t eat for more than 12-24 hours, it’s considered an emergency and requires vet attention immediately. As an angora I’m quite considered with wool block, which if it’s severe enough and left untreated can kill your bunny.

He has been eating a little hay, but other than that, nothing
But just now he ate all his veggies for the first time in 4 days
We’re still going to get him to the vet’s, but what just happened there?

              Thanks, everybody <3

I agree with the others. If he hasn’t eaten in 4 days, he needs to see a vet. It is very serious when a bun doesn’t eat. Here is a link to a very good article about this:

This could be about his teeth. You can’t see a bun’s inner teeth without a special instrument (an otoscope).

How often do you groom him? If he has been ingesting too much fur, his intestines may be blocked.

He gets groomed every night, and a haircut every month

So we got him to the vet’s, and they trimmed his teeth a bit, but also we found out he has a bad allergy to bannanas. He is almost completely fine, thank you everybody!

Thank you for the update! Lovely news!

Except about the banana of course, but banana isn’t absolutely necessary for a bun’s survival, even though some rabbits swear it is =)

Just some starter advice, be willing and prepared for force feeding when your rabbit won’t eat for more than 48 hours.
