Hi everyone, I need some help with my rabbit, Mocha. I let her out of her cage every single day, and she gets at least 4 hours out a day. I notice that whenever I let her out, she tends to sit or lounge in one spot, not moving much except maybe to eat or use her litterbox in her cage, then she’ll go back to where she was sitting. I’ve had her for nearly 3 years now, and since she’s my first rabbit, I never really gave much thought about it until now. I also notice that she doesn’t come greet me whenever I go to see her. I don’t think she’s sick or anything, since this behavior has been going on since I got her. I have no idea why she just sits in a corner all day, please help!

What time of day do you let her out? Bunnies generally sleep/rest during the day and are most active early morning and evening. My two usually start sleeping from around 11am to 5pm. Give or take. So if you’re allowing her out during peak snooze time, that’ll be why

On the weekends she gets let out at around 11, the same time she gets her food. On weekdays when I have school, she gets out around 3 or 4. She gets put back in everyday at around 7-9. Maybe I should get up and let her out around 7 or 8 am on weekends?

Ah, prime snooze time that is. Mine are free roam so they’re always out but I hear them sprinting and whatnot at around 7am usually.  Then in the evening up until I go to bed which is usually between 9 amd 11pm. I don’t know what they do while I’m in bed, if they’re running around they’re very quiet lol.

Yeah, the fancy term is “crepuscular”. I get up VERY early in the morning to take my train in to work, so them being active in the predawn/dawn hours doesn’t pose a problem for me (though on weekends, I get up, give them their breakfast, morning hay, and post-breakfast treats, then go back to bed again ). Their dusk/early evening hours are prime time for me too, so that’s the time of day when I have most of my interaction with them Monday-Thursday. As others have pointed out, they spend most of the daytime hours napping or lounging, which leads to some interesting situations on the weekends, in the early afternoon, where they’re snoozing in their condo and I’m snoozing in my bed about six feet away!
