Ok.My rabbit was running around binkying and I was on my phone sitting on a blanket. Panda (my rabbit) ran back to me and sat down. Then he bit me! Im so shocked he is such a calm friendly bunny so that confused me alot. He loves the blanket so maybe he was being territorial but I really dont know. Can some of you guys help me please ?

Was it a full on bite or a nip?

Bunnies communicate by nipping so he might have been trying to tell you something rather than trying to hurt you (but nips can hurt I know!) Perhaps he wanted your attention, or wanted you to move?

Thanks for the help Sarah. He’s grand now though. I think he wanted me to get of his blanket he isnt neutered yet though. Could that have played a part in it? Again thanks for the help.

As he isn’t neutered, he could be a bit territorial and so was saying “get off my blanket!” Definitely could be that

My own Panda has nipped me a couple of times this first week, first to demand more banana treats and then to demand attention. She did it a little too hard the first time so I squeaked/screeched in a high-pitched tone and then firmly told her “No!”. That appears to have taken her aback; when she nipped the second time, she did it MUCH more gently.

As stated, buns nip as a way to communicate “I dont like that”/”I dont like what youre doing”. Its possible Panda wanted you to get off of his blanket, but its also possible he nipped because you were not playing back with him as he ran around. If he nips and it hurts, make a high pitched “yip” sound, and turn your back to your bun. This teaches them to nip softer (as Joea states)

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention I gave naughty Panda the ol’ turn-the-back treatment too. That’s a classic way of showing disapproval and displeasure among rabbits, and I suspect it was VERY effective on her.
