        Hi guys i’m new here.

So i’m really worried about something like FREAKING OUT. My rabbit had some very sticky tape holding the top of his cage together cuz a part of it broke and I can’t have it opened if there’s no tape..anyways it’s been weeks and my bunny just noticed the tape he grabbed a small bit of tape about a centimer long and started chewing it I tried my best to get it back right away but it ended up stuck inside his mouth in his cheek / upper lip. My brother managed to remove it with tweezers but I worry there might be some left or some glue but I can’t see anything. Do you think there’s any danger he might get poisoned from that? I’m really worried about my little guy. Right now it’s been 30 minutes he’s eating hay, drinking, pooping; everything seems okay. I just don’t wanna go to bed and wake up and have him dead or something did it ever happen to you guys??

Really good job getting the tape out with tweezers!

From what I can find, tape glue doesn’t seem to be toxic. Otherwise it would not be safe to use where there are small children around, and most homes have tape. http://tapeauthority.com/is-tape-toxic-duct-tape-electrical-tape-and-scotch-tape/

Rabbits are known to get into all sorts of things. I don’t think your bun is in any danger, but if you’re very worried you could call a vet and ask. It seems cats often ingest tape and in large quantities, it can cause intestinal blockages – but all non-food ingested in larger quantities can of course cause blockages.

I have had to catch my rabbit about 3 times to pull a piece of tape off her face cuz she got into something she shouldn’t have. She did manage to nibble some but she’s been fine after every incident.

Does the part of the cage that’s broken absolutely need adhesive to hold together? Maybe you could try zip-ties as they are much harder for a rabbit to get into.
