My Meko has become a terrorist.

So let me start with summary of my very well behaved Noriega lol named Meko.
He is my 7 year step bunny, male unfixed. Bonded to a Russian blue cat called Koga.
When I moved in the summer was in full swing no bunny issues. As winter crept in, bunny butt started to be come a mini spraying bomb…just to me by the way. Bolt in to the tiny bathroom, right after my morning shower and….back in the shower I would go.
Door closing and distraction affection patterns worked to defuse my morning attacks. Dead of winter hits and he becomes a rapist of his bother who I had to build safe spots for his naps. Koga randomly in the winter looks like he has a spot of mange on his forehead from bunny nips. This fades very quickly as it warms. Cali had very few cold snaps, thankfully.

Well here the thing, we just moved to Virginia. My once well behaved meko is in full terrorist mode. If I don’t give him treats fast enough or more upon demand terrorist spinning pee bombing. If I don’t crawl down the couch fast enough for loving, spinning bunny. If I am actively loving on him, spinning pee bombing. He chooses 98% time I am the victim, his father is a rare but becoming more frequent survivor of the bombings. So here is the thing, I don’t negotiate with terrorist so I know I have not been rewarding this behavior. I think he knows he done wrong because he runs and gets into his time out pen of his own free will. He even does his apologies when he allowed back out.

I have gone through most causes for behavior issues, I keep his stuff well maintained and keep his smell on them. I am very good about my furry babies, food, cage, loving, toys, and so on. He is health, eating well, normal bowel movements, and we’ll hydrated. He has his proper bunny dream signs, no allergies, and we’ll groomed teeth to claws.

I worry because this is not his normal self, he I think is to old to fix and if not what about the bonding with Koga? I love the little cute evil fur ball but I am a farm kid, I keep seeing slippers and rabbit spaghetti when he sprays me. I just keep telling myself he not much meat and old tough rabbit is that good. I am looking for idea on how to deal with him, other than stew. Is he to old to fix? Is this him going through bunny version midlife crisis? Has he decided that since we moved and I am the only female in the house he gets dibs? What the f#$% is up with my adorable bunny, and he may still make adorable slippers.

I’m sorry but the topic of meat rabbits is not really allowed here. But since that is a joke(? )…. I would fix your bunny anyway it’s better for him and this time of year rabbits tend to get crazy because it’s mating season or something like that.

Ask a vet about the neutering, if he’s a healthy bun I don’t see why he couldn’t cope with a short anesthesia. But before that, here’s a few questions:
– does he have a plushie or something to hump regularly and vent his hormones? (if not, grab a plushie and seduce him)
– does he have an area that is his only? (I’m thinking he’s in a new territory and his marking instincts went up)
– does he only spray humans or also places? (-> if yes, back to territory-marking idea)

And no…. put down the pot! I see you!

Thank you, and yes it is a joke. I am worries that fixing him so late might be harmful, I even read some where they might die while being put under for older rabbits. Have you heard anything about that?

Thank you, it is the living room and me. Completely new place but all the old furniture. I was hoping that would have dealt with the new marking, may be not enough.

As for the plushy, I have gotten him some but how does one seduce a bunny? I bought one and had pet smart put in with a few females for a bit. But no luck, his brother moves and that is it the chase is on.

I have put the pot down for now…had to so I could wash the 4 pairs of sweatpants sprayed today.

For the plushie, grab it, get comfy with the little rat (like sitting on the floor with him, petting, y’know normal bun time. Do wear a raincoat if necessary lol).
What I usually do is to brush the butt of the plushie under the bun’s chin, he gets interested, honks a few times, then I move the plush away a bit, he follows it and then mounts it. Maybe try while the cat is not in the room? Once he starts liking his plushie he’ll go at it and it won’t say no, so he might leave the cat alone.

Flushing his hormones might also help the spraying problem, so keep trying!

Oh my god. Is it wrong I am eager to seduce my rabbit? One more thing have you ever heard of a rabbit binkying and peeing or is that just him spraying? I am always trying to see if I am just looking at this wrong, like lost in human to bunny translation.

Never heard of that, but you can take him to get checked for urinary tract infections (which could justify crazy peeing…) and ask about the neutering while the vet’s at it.

Hi Meko – welcome — please, understand this – not at any age is it ” too old ” to be spayed or neutered, unless, they have other underlying health issues. The benfits, FAR outweigh the bad, and, I’m sure, your boy, would be much happier, with those bad boy hormones released from him – keep us in touch!
