Okay, so I had these two rabbits since they both were babies because I used to show them when I was in FFA. They were always separated from each other, and never met each other for about 8 years. Recently, I decided to get them both spayed and neutered because I wanted to put them together when I move off to college in like a month. My female rabbit has been spayed for about a month now and my male rabbit has been neutered for a week. I just introduced them together for the second time today and my male has been constantly humping and chasing my female rabbit. My female seems really chill but my male rabbit seems so hormonal. Could he still be hormonal even though he recently been neutered? How long could it take for him to finally calm down? I really don’t want to keep them separated but I can’t really have him humping her all the time either. What should I do?

It can take a few weeks for hormones to settle, I think 2-3 weeks is average for males.

Plus, even though they were together as babies, you will need to go through the bonding process with them. Chasing and humping can be part of dominance displays, even when they are not hormonal. I recommend reading through the bonding info section under the “bunny info” tab above.

Basically you will want to let them interact in neutral space in closely supervised “dates” until they sort out their hierarchy.

I would let their hormones settle for another 2 weeks or so, and you can start pre-bonding (cage swaps) for a 2-4 weeks. Then they will be ready to start bonding sessions.
