My bunny was once nearly perfectly littertrained, he never peed on the carpet, just a few territorial poops every now and then that I assumed would go away after his neuter.

I’ve brought him back from his neuter today, he hasn’t peed on the carpet but he’s pooping piles at a time on the carpet! Should I let it go for today? Will he get better at it?

Yes, give it time. He may be uncomfortable from the surgery and not want to move to his litter box every time he has to go. Their hormones can also go a bit crazy for a while after being neutered so he may still leave territorial poops around until they die down. I suggest just sweeping them up and putting them in the box to remind him.

Keep in mind though that many bunnies will still sometimes poop outside of their litterbox regardless. All of my fixed buns have done the majority of their poops in their boxes but I still have to vacuum some up every day.

What kanin said. Also, you might want to confine him to his cage for a few days if it doesn’t cause him too much stress, just to make sure he doesn’t run/jump around right after surgery.
