Yesterday’s second injection of Pen-G on Mimzy went a lot easier than I had anticipated. My husband did a champion job! Of  course, I was a nervous wreck.

No spills, no muss, no fuss. I had wrapped Mimzy in a terrycloth towel after taking him from his night pen and brought him out to the couch (neutral territory so he wouldn’t feel secure enough to fight back) and he sat there for him and the skin was easily pulled into a tent, the needle went in with no struggle (I was sweating bullets, I can tell you) and the medicine went in, badaboom badabing!

I did keep some soap and water nearby just in case we goofed, but hubby was a pro. I am so unbelievably lucky to have him do this, because the minute it was all done I starting blubbing like a baby because we’d had to poke my sweet little bun!

Two down, five to go. (At least the first one was in the doc’s office.) I am going to be a complete basket case in three weeks!

Now, besides his appetite suddenly changing in any way…is there anything else I should look for as far as poor reaction to this medicine? He is still sneezing and blowing goobers of course, but I figure that will go on for awhile. I’m hoping that he’s just clearing out all the saved up gold in that mine of his.

They say Alaska has a good assortment of hubby material. I may move.

I learned that there are fewer nerve endings in that back fleshy part of the neck where they tell you to do injections, so it sounds like it hurt you more than it hurts Mimzy. Still, I’m glad to hear both did so well. I can’t advise you on side effects though. You watch him so carefully that I think you’d notice anything that is odd. Got the vet on speed dial yet? *wink* I expect your next report to be how much better Mimzy is dong as a result of MisterMimz’ ministrations.
