My horse Winnie is in pretty bad shape tonight. All week she seemed a little off, not quite as active as usual but I wasn’t too worried. Today I went out to find her in the pasture and she can hardly put weight on her leg. We think she injured her shoulder.  She’s on stall rest and painkillers for the weekend.

It’s very scary when a horse injures a leg because it could last 2 days or 2 years you never know. The vet is coming to the stable Tuesday for her vaccines so I will get him to take a look at her then.

There is nothing worse than looking into an animals eyes and seeing pain, no matter how big or small they may be.

LPT, sending lots of well wishing and pain free ****healing vibes**** for Winnie. It is so hard and so sad to see pain in any animal.

I’m so sorry to hear that your horse isn’t feeling well. My mother also has horses and I know how worried she gets if they injure their legs. Have you ever heard of or used T Touch? I’m not that familiar with it, I just learned about it and its a way that people comfort or bond with their horses I think – maybe that would help her feel a bit better until Tuesday?

                    ((((((((((((Feel better, Winnie!))))))))))))))))

I love horses, even though I am deathly allergic to their dander. I steam every spring because I just can’t stand to see them raced to the point of injury just for the money in the Triple Crown.

I watch every showing of All Creatures Great and Small to see them work with the horses. Some of the ones in old England were such huge, beautifully muscular animals…I always wanted one like that.

I hope the vet is able to work it out for you, LPT! I will pray that it all turns out all right!

                            How is she today?

She’s doing a little better today, she outside in a small paddock but she is pretty pumped up on Bute (painkiller). I’m keeping her off pain killers all day Monday so she will have it out of her system when the vet comes Tuesday so he can see how bad she is. I’m cringing thinking about how much she will be limping tomorrow

Yeah, Bute is good but bad at the same time (masking the seriousness of it). My gelding with Navicular has to go on Bute when he gets sore…poor buggers.

                                        Oh no!! Puffy!!

                                        HEALING VIBES****

It’s crazy how they can injure themselves with no sign as to how it happened. There was this horse at the barn I used to ride at. Had what looked like a bullet wound. No exit wound. X-ray showed no bullet so that couldn’t be it. Walked the whold pasture, no sign of what happened. Total mystery!!!

                                        How’s she doing now?

The vet came out yesterday. He thinks it’s actually her right hoof that’s hurting her. He thinks she has an abcess and some bruising but if that’s what it is it’s not very serious. It will just take some time (and a lot of pampering and treats) to get better.
