Hey guys.  I have a video of my lovely goldfish if  you care to see. I have 5 of them and also 3 dojo loaches which are the eel like

fish in the tank. I love my goldies like I love my Bunny. The small ones are about 3″ long and the largest is 9 -10″.

There names are: Sterling, Freddy, Newton, Saluki, and Merope. Oh, and the Dojos are Jetsome, Fetsome, and Goldy Hawn.

        *video on next post.

Do the one with the big eyes always scuttle like that? It seemed one would scuttle along the bottom then up the sides of the tank. Funny looking!
Great names……uh, I gotta ask now; how did Bunny come to be called Bunny? lol Guess it just fitted!

It is funny how sometimes my pets get lame names. Most of the time I pick really awesome ones

Like I had a cat named Carrot, but I also had a cat named Kitty. Yeah, one is creative and one is a cop out.
But the thing is, Kitty was a stray. So the need to name her was not stronge like when I got the other one as a kitten.

And my Bunny was a stray to. So I ended up just calling him what he was because I was unsure if I would end up keeping him or not.

At least with the fish, I obviously got them on purpose! Not like a stray fish finds it’s way to my house. Though if so it would definately be name fishy.

Alright about the telescope eyed goldfish. That one is Newton, he is handicaped. His swim bladder does not inflate anymore and he is what is known as a side-layer. He can swim up but it takes a lot of effort and when he is not swimming he is resting on the bottom of the tank. This is a somewhat common ailment with fancy goldfish. Many people make slings with floaters attached for them to swim around in. I have been working on a design myself but it is not as easy as you might think. He still gets around at feeding time and as you can see in the video he still swims about some.
I felt bad for him for awhile, but I am used to him this way now.

Aw…now I feel bad for laughing! A sling for a fish, now that’s a first! You obviously know alot about them. I remember you posting once about having to find good vet care for your fish. Must be a nightmare! So I guess it’s really up to you to be able to be their number one health care provider.

That was a great video! I was looking at your cute little fish and then this GIGANTIC fish swims out from the side! It was like something on the Discovery channel! So you have to have them separated? Will they fight if they’re all together?

Can you bond fish like you can bunnies? Side by side forced fish snuggling? No… lol… maybe not. ;o)

And your comment about not finding a stray fish made me giggle too…

Hehe Jerseygirl, don’t feel bad! It is funny looking. He does some funny manuevers now adays and I laugh at him too.
He still has a full life I think. He even gets to snuggle at night time and sleep with his buddies. Before he used to hover near the
surface by himself all night. So even though he lost something he has gained as well.

Yeah that probably was kind of shocking to see the big fish pop in the frame! LoL. The fish are seperated because the 2 little ones are so tiny comparatively. The small fish as well as the loaches can move to either side of the divider but the big fish can’t.
Both the loaches and small growing goldfish need more protein in their diet than the adult goldfsih do, so this is a way to feed them seperate foods.
Generally goldfish are very social and like to be around other goldies. Sometimes they may not get along with certain ones, or one is a bully, but it is not like bonding rabbits so much. They usually get along fine right off.

As for vet care, I have not yet needed an aquatic vet but a friend of mine has for her fish. They can get you certain drugs that cannot
be gotten otherwise, and also x-rays, surgery, and the use of a microscope are helpfull uses for the vet. Other than that
stuff, I am on a great goldfish forum with tons of experts so I have handled any medical issues with their help. Thankfully right now all my goldies are healthy!

the buggy-eyed fish on the left side of the tank cracks me up! He’s your handicapped fish I assume – his erratic bouncing around is weirdly cute!

And I agree with bunnytowne that the other big one looks like a parakeet! lmao!
