I am so happy!  My girls have finally found a new home that is just right for them. It’s with a husband and wife who just lost their house rabbit a couple of weeks ago

They are going to be house rabbits and I am able to get a good reference from their vet and she has assured me that they will be neutered. I will be keeping in touch as she is another member of Rabbits United, the UK Rehoming site.  I have to take them on a three hour car journey to get them there but i don’t care if it means they get a loving home.  I have been getting really upset at the thought of them leaving but it feels like it is the right thing to do…

That sounds great! I’m sure you are relieved and sad at the same time.

Ah, great news – but of course very sad too! Hopefully you could do more than keep in touch, maybe go visit them?

He he Lion lop… Yes I would love to visit but it’s an awful long way away, They live in Scotland and I live in England… does anyone think that three hours is too long a journey or do you think they will be ok?

That sounds like a great home. Congratulations. I’ve transported rabbits that far before for a good home too.

Also if she’s a member of Rabbits United and she got a good reference from her vet then you know they are in good hands :~)

yeah, I had another offer of a home today from  some people who already have five rabbits, and would have given them a lovely home but as outdoor buns.  I  chose the home further away because I didn’t feel uneasy about it like I did the other. I was beginning to think they were going to end up staying here for good but I have to keep them in a pen and can only let them out for limited amounts of time. THis way they are going to eventually be free range buns so I can’t complain. It’s so hard to find homes for indoor bunnies and Tracy sounds lovely. She’s a real animal person and will take good care of them. I just hope the girls behave themselves.

Lilly had a patch of fur missing on her shoulder blades so I don’t know if they have been fighting. It didn’t look like it had been pulled out though and more like nibbled off. I couldn’t find any fur on the floor so it must have been eaten. I was watching them together and they seem very closely bonded, but I have noticed that Charlie is quite dominant and keeps spraying because she can smell the other buns. They are still too young to be neutered though.

Congratulations on finding a good home for them.  I think the trip is well worth it.  We’ve taken our bunnies on 3 hour car trips before, they did fine.  I think yours will be fine too.  They don’t really eat during the trip, so maybe you can pull off someplace and offer them some greens and water during the drive.

That is wonderful news! ^^ I know it is sad to see them go, but it sounds like they have found their forever home! That is so reassuring.

Do you have anything like Rescue Remedy in the UK? Perhaps that will help make the ride go easier?

Yeah, a long car ride won’t hurt them. Maryann and Dono have dealt with 2 hour + car rides to and from the Rabbit Haven. In fact, the long car ride will help with their new location as well as bonding.

As for the missing fur, it is possible that Charlie did some overzealus grooming so keep an eye on it. A problem with OG (as I call it) is that the bun who does it notices the bald patch and begins to groom it more as it is something ‘wrong’ that needs to be ‘fixed’ with the bunny bath.

i think a long car ride is ok as long as it isnt all the time, we had 2 drive an hour back with hopscotch and he was fine. dont worry! congrats! ((vibes that it all goes ok)) keep us posted!

i am so relieved for you! don’t worry. you have a recommendation from the vet, plus they’ve had a house bun before. i think this is wonderful. and this will hopefully help to heal their hearts after their recent loss.

                                    Thanks guys!

My girls are going to Scotland on Thursday. In one way I am excited for them and in another I am upset. I know I will cry when I have to hand them over but I know it’s what is best for them in the long run.
