Hi, so I posted last week about helping out a rescue that is over-run with bunnies and the owners are a bit overwhelmed!  So I love having bunnies around and agreed to foster one or two bunnies for them and help with their care.

Here is my first bunny: He is 5 months old and BIG! The story was they rescued him and his sister (she was adopted already) and this breed of rabbit are bred for hunting dogs to chase?!?! I had no idea that people did things like that, but the guy who owned them had them vet checked and surrendered them to the rescue. He is gorgeous and so sleek! I just love his ears!! As you will see in the picture. His name is Arizona. He is doing great, he loves veggies and hay and loves to run around and be mischievous!

Awesome! He has to be a rhinelander. How much do you think he weighs now? I just looked up that the junior rhinelanders weigh minimum of 3 1/4 lbs.

I just love him, he’s so personable! He loves to run around and get treats of course, but his favorite thing to do is dump his hay pan (a metal bread pan, works quite well for tossing) He does this when my hunny and I watch tv in the room with him. He is totally stealing my heart! I hope he finds a great home, but he can stay with us as long as he wants! He has the most gorgeous ears and colors….he is super friendly too!

Jersey, thank you SOOO much for telling me his breed! He is LONG, but slender. I am going to weigh him, but he is just so jumpy and hard to keep still for more than 5 seconds…so I will let you know his weight, but thanks so much again for your help!

Thanks, he is quite the character!! I am getting another bunny to foster on Thursday evening, so I will post a pic of him/her soon after! I love helping out, it’s so rewarding and it’s something I have wanted to do (my own Rabbit Rescue) but right now is not the right time for me, so this fullfills part of my dream to help unwanted rabbits.

He’s gorgeous! I love the harlequin colouring on his ears.

The harlequin ears again… who was it recently that had them too, but loppy? Howey? A bun named Howey? They are very flashy.
Bred for being chased by dogs… another questionable purpose, #$#%^&^*&*&%^%$&$&%#^&*~~~!!!! Bunnies have a hard lot on this earth. Is he fast? he looks racey.
Arizona looks to me like an artist’s muse… like he was made from china and pure white in the beginning and then a painter came and dotted on him with brush and color…

He’s adorable. The more and more I learn about rabbits, the more I want to save them all! If only…

Petzy, I think it was Howie! I thought of him when I met Arizona….love those Harlequin ears! He looks so delicate and sleek, but he is STRONG and FAST!! He’s a love bug though, after what he almost went through. I can’t believe the horror stories that rescue buns come with. I didn’t know rabbits were bred for dogs to chase either, I was outraged by this!! So Arizona is spoied rotten with me, like my other bunnies and he appreciates it

I agree, Kiley Rose, I wish I could help every bunny in need! I wanted to help out, so that I why I am fostering a bunny, soon to be two, but I feel like that I am doing something good by helping them. They are so sweet and deserve total happiness!

Well it’s good that you are able to do that for them, I’m sure they appreciate it! I convinced my family to let me get one more bunny, but I’m cut off until I “get my own place” …I’ll definately have my own zoo

He’s gorgeous! Totally looks like a rhinelander to me – he’s got the racey body and the coloring. People breed gorgeous animals like that for hunting dogs to chase? So sad 🙁 I’m glad he has a such good foster home with you 🙂

I just noticed, he even has the spot on his cheek like a Rhinelander should have. So cool! They’re one of my favorite breeds, but so rare to see.

Thank you for taking him in and giving him a forever home. He looks more bred for binkies to me!

Hubby said that when we get a house I can have up to 4 buns! And I assume he means 4 permanent and some additional fosters  I can’t wait to foster and am so sad I don’t have the room for it now.

Of course, the chances of me giving the foster bunnies back are rather slim… hehe

Hahaha Monkey! Me too! I am in LOVE with Arizona – he’s the coolest rabbit I ever saw! I am going to look up more information on him since someone identified his breed as Rhinelander. Thanks Jersey and Elrohwen!

He’s a sweet bunny now that I have him, I have been working on his social skills. You can tell he was terrified of people (probably the guy who surrendered him and his sister to the rescue) now he is friendly and comes to greet my boyfriend and I…so that is a good sign! I am really enjoying this experience working with the rescue! They called me today and said they are getting 2 more bunnies that someone is surrendering!! It just makes me sad that people don’t give them a chance, they are great animals and make even better family members! I guess people don’t see them like we do on BB!
