My first bonding session

Hi all,

I wanted to share this video as a thank you for all the helpful information here. I bought my first ever bunny from the pet store 2.5 years ago (beige/grey one). I have a full time job so it’s been difficult for me to give him time. I lived with my parents before and I have 3 siblings so he was getting a little attention from everyone. Then I moved into my own place and he was very lonely. I looked at many rescue places but most did not reply back or were a little rude. I then started looking on kijiji for spayed females. I found someone giving theirs away due to allergies so I brought her home. I put her cage in my bunny’s play pen and let her stay the night there. Then in the morning I put my bunny in her cage and let her stay in his pen. During lunch (after about 4 hours) I came home and switched them back again. Then after work i set up this new play pen in the living room (neutral territory for both) and put them in together. I kept food there so they could eat together but neither touched it until after they were separated. For now I am keeping them here with the barrier in the middle so they can have half the pen in the neutral territory for a week with dates every evening. I will also switch their sides every day.

P.S. This is my first ever experience with bonding bunnies and my brother was there watching them so I felt comfortable video taping.

They are both so calm and friendly with each other, despite all the humping!!! I think they are going to be great friend soon.

They haven’t been biting each other which is a blessing. Before going to work today I put them in one cage and rubbed their heads. They both cuddled and let me just rub away. This afternoon during lunch I switched their cages again. I have just moved into a new condo so need to set up the bathroom today. I think I will let them stay in the bathroom with me so I can work and they can bond all at the same time
