I’m just very concerned as I got two female bunnies when they were 8 weeks old. They are exactly the same age (born on June 9th 2017

) but they are from two different litters. They seemed to get on very well up until about a couple of weeks ago, when I found Simba (one of my female bunnies) chasing Smudge (my other female bunny) around the pen. It almost looked like she was nipping her but when I felt Smudge there didn’t seem to be anything wrong. Simba is definitely the more outgoing bunny, but Smudge still seems to be scared of me and will only let me pat her when she’s eating :/ Whenever Smudge comes up to sniff my hands she will sniff them then back of with big eyes. I’ve had them for atleast 2 months and Simba’s perfectly fine around me but Smudge is frightened to be around me. I’ve tried almost everything to get smudge to like me but I’m just wondering if this is because of Simba? Do I have to seperate Simba and Smudge and get them both spayed or is it just a bunny puberty thing that will wear off later on? The lady I adopted them from said that they may give each other the occasional bite but other than that they will warm up to each other as they mature and spaying isn’t necessary unless I really want too – is this true? If you do know anything about this topic and can help me please reply back! It would be deeply appreciated.

        Thanks

Unfortunately they have reached the age where puberty sets in and it is nessesary to spay them if you want them to continue to live together. Bunnies should not be bonded without being fixed, as their hormones can lead to unpredictable behavior (including biting) that can scar their relationship for life. Additionally, spaying females prevents several very common reproductive cancers.
I would get them both spayed, and once they have healed, work on bonding them back together. Good luck!
