My entire family is very upset, especially my mom. Chester seemed okay right after the attack. He was looking around and being very responsive, he even took a little sip of water. He didn’t appear to have any damage done to him, but he was screaming when the dog attacked him. He’s always been a very skittish rabbit, but he’s never screamed before. We left him in a small carrier over night and we were going to take him to the vet in the morning because he seemed to be okay, but he died during the night. This foster dog has fought with our cats AND our other dogs. Keep in mind that we have had the bunny for a year and a half BEFORE we got this new dog. The other pets did not bother the bunny, and we always kept him safe in the back room with the door shut.
I don’t understand how he died, and I feel guilty because It was my idea to get a foster dog. Chester didn’t deserve to die, he was just a bunny. I didn’t really love him like my mom did, but I’m crying about it.

That’s awful sounds like he was terrified, should keep dogs as far away from bunnies as possible. Poor little thing died from delayed shock i should think.

Very sad. I’m sorry for your and your family’s loss. And I feel sorry for the little rabbit. Very tragic. I am at a loss for words. You are right, he didn’t deserve to die. And to think it could have been avoided. Very, very unfortunate.

It sounds like your mom was closest to your bunny. Hopefully there was a lot of joy, happiness, and good memories in that year and a half.
