Oh dear. I hear a little buzzing noise coming from my computer tower. It IS about 5 or 6 years old, and I don’t have a cover for it and we have SO much dust in the house…and fur….

Could it just be the fan perhaps? Or is a major backup in order? I have all my pix of my bunnies and other pets and family on this hard drive, it’ll devastate me if I lose them but…the data is of phenominal size… 0_o

Sooo…if I suddenly disappear form the forum, it might be that my PC blew up.

I’m sure even if the computer goes, the harddrive will be fine. You can just take it out and move everything if worse comes to worst.

most likely its the power supply, my home computer is 5-6 i just had to replace the mother board as well as the power supply, it was doing the same thing.

best suggest, that you would remove the HDD when you know it still functions. Else be too late. It can always can become an external HDD all you may need is a external casing. May it be SATA or IDE. (IDE is a bit hard to find these days.) Noisy might be coz by power supply fan. That fan traps dust easily. or try to open you PC and turn it on, see if the sound is coming from your processor fan. This are the two possibles. Good Luck.

Don’t take the chance! Back it all up! If it is the power supply, I’ve still seen power surges wipe memory… And known people who take computers in to be fixed (by an evil company that should stick to selling CD’s and leave computer-repair out of it!) for something minor like a CD-drive issue, and gotten back a computer that NO LONGER HAD HER THESIS ON IT!

                  Paranoid…yes!!!!!
