        Anyone who could help?

My bunny Miriam’s eye today is wet. The past week or so she had a few small “sleepy” in her eyes that mostly looked like shedding fur. Today however one of her eyes is tearing up. I’m wondering if I should rush her to the vet ASAP or if it would be okay to wait until Monday and ask if she needs to be seen. Or if I even need to worry.

        Any advice is welcome.

I think as long as she is eating and drinking and pooping you will be fine to wait until Monday.

You might try a warm wet compress to help clean her eye area and help make it feel better.

But definitely get her to the vet on Monday so you can see what is wrong.

For the compress you can use a soft wash cloth but don’t rub it, just pat it. Rubbing will cause more irritation. Not hot either, just warm and comforting. Don’t try any type of lotions or anything else near the eye that could irritate it – better to get something that is recommended or prescribed from the vet that something over the counter you are not sure of.

If it gets a bit swollen, you can do the same thing Sarita suggested, but just make it a little cooler.

Keep us updated as to what the vet says on Monday.

It is a good idea to get her to the vet on Monday. Something I learned awhile ago that I found surprising was that sometimes eye issues could be caused by dental issues, so you could also have your vet check your bunnies teeth. Is your bunny’s eye red or swollen at all? One of my bunnies got a “clogged tear duct”, and you could tell because the inner corner of her ear was red and a little swollen. I was recommended by my vet to wash her eye out with a saline only eye drop (be careful if you are purchasing this at the store because a lot of the eye drops have medications in them, you want one that is just salt and water). I did this a couple times a day for a few days and her tear duct became unclogged.

I’d wait until Monday-it’s not an emergency in my eyes -esp since the e-vet would mean not a rabbit vet; whereas monday means a good rabbit vet-I’d keep a close eye for eating and pooping and as long as all is well wait until monday to see a good vet

I agree that Monday is fine. If it is a clogged duct, you will get some medicine (mine was a cream ointment) to use on the corner of the eye that will heal it in several days. Mine was for Spockie, and it recurred a few times a year for the rest of his life, but this took care of it pronto.

A tooth problem is another cause, and may mean an entirely different course of care. Only a vet can do this initially either way.

First question, have you introduced any new candles or air freshener type things into your house? Felony had a TERRIBLE runny eye for days, found out he didn’t like my new candles. X-|
