My FooFoo peed all over the carpet and kitchen tile. He also left droppings all over the bed and around the bed. My boyfriend and I, just recently started letting him on the bed a week ago. Then, two days ago, he peed and we took him off, and then he peed again and his bed privileges were revoked. And today, he surprised us with his little droppings. He is neutered, his cage was recently moved, and he has had no changes in diet. He does seem a little high strung lately and I don’t know why… His cage was moved, but we’ve been playing with him and giving him his loves every day, and he has seemed fine. Also, before his cage was moved, he had peed on the bed when we brought him up for cuddles. So, I’m not sure if that’s it. He is young, only a few months, and he is a Netherland Dwarf. I’m not sure what to do. I could put vinegar in some areas, but I want to find out why he is acting out….Possibly…My boyfriend recently took away his hiding spot in the closet. Could this be the reason?

How long have you had him? How old is he? How long ago was he neutered?

It could be an adjustment period. My Thumper, also a Nethie, was notorious for peeing ALL over the place! The rugs, bare floors, couch, pillows…Ah ya yay! It was MADDENING!!! He did stop doing it though it took over 4 weeks after he was neutered.

He was neutered last Thursday. We’ve had him since Thanksgiving. It’s like he’s having mood-swings! lol And I dont know how old he is. Only a few months, because we even got a discount for the neutering.

Ah yes…well, he just got neutered. He is just going through the motions. My boys and I were on peepee clean up duty for quite a few weeks after his neuter (and def. before).

For now, have patience w/the little guy. Try using paper towels to clean up some pee and put the paper towel in his litter box. You should use more than one litter box till he realizes what he is supposed to do.

              Good Luck (((((hugs)))))))))

It sounds like he is fairly young and was just ready to be neutered. Like ThumpersMum mentioned, there is an adjustment period from the hormone levels changing of up to a month. Rabbits (even females) will will become territorial and mark anything that has a strong human scent and the couch and bed are prime targets for this.  You just might want to limit him to his orginal running space until his habits improve again litterbox wise then slowly reward him with a little more running room or priveledges. Rabbits do not respond too well to discipline and posititve reinforcement usually is the better route.  Try that first and there are a few other techniques like herding him to his litterbox when you catch him in the act, or for a more stubborn rabbit, clap and say no, then herd them to the litterbox.  You can also use a squirt bottle full of water, however that is usually reserved for the most stubborn after all other techniques have failed. Give the shrinking his space a try and just for info, rabbits don’t really like change and he could be acting out because of that but I suspect it is more territorial oriented. I hope this helps!
