I have a 10 month old rabbit and recently I have noticed he has been coughing. They are little coughs that almost sound like hiccups and he will cough a couple times in a row, not just one cough. Besides the cough he still seeems like his healthy self, running around , eating and pooping normally . I was wondering if his hay was dusty? Can bunnies get a cold? Has this happened to anyone?

Rabbits don’t get colds which they can fight on their own if they’re showing symptoms. That being said, a cough is more a sign that there’s something irritating in your rabbit’s airway potentially.

I would recommend a vet visit to have a professional rabbit vet listen for any obstruction, or it may get worse and more difficult to treat. Healthy rabbits do not cough and to my knowledge, don’t even cough occasionally. I’ve never heard my Wick cough.
