My little guy just got neutered this Tues. This is my first neuter and I don’t know what to expect. The first 2 days he didn’t want to come out of his cage I figured he was in pain. I gave him his pain medicine and since it can sedate him I figured that was another reason why. It’s been 4 days and his attitude is a little better, but not how he was. I know it will take a bit but he’s eating still hasent gotten back to how it was, and when he is out of his cage he runs around and then just lays down with his head on the floor. His mate had a tragic death last year, so all this makes me nervous. I’d like to hear your guys opinions and experiences. Maybe, hopefully it will make me feel better. Thanks.

My first hope is that you’ve been in communication with the vet who did the procedure so she can assure you if he is behaving normally or if it is reason to bring him in. If you haven’t done so yet, you must call her asap. Post surgical issues are not common but are possible, and this could indicate something to her that we can’t tell here. It is part of a good surgical procedure for a dr. to keep in frequent contact with the patient to insure a complete recovery.
          Please call the vet.

Boys usually bounce back quickly. I’d ditto Beka, to get in touch with the vet and even just bring him back in for a little look. Usually if it’s a post op follow up, you won’t even be charged. So I’d pack him up and see the vet, four days is quite the recovery-boy wise anyways. How’s he eating? If not well-I’d get to the vet asap.
