Sir Royal Oak ( Oakley ) is weird. It’s official.
He just isn’t rabbit – he’s royalty – king of the pride – too good ( or scared ) of anything “rabbit”.
He’s too good for grass ( actually he has ISS and can’t reintroduce grass for quite a few months yet )
And he signs (pees on) anything wooden or cardboard
His hay must be handed to him on a platter ( a VERY open hay rack or a bowl – never in a toilet roll , normal plastic hay holder , hay dispenser or hay ball or he will refuse to eat ALL DAY!)
He loves blankets and his stuffed Peter rabbit , his step stool ( which is one without a opening to hide at the moment as it’s low to the ground so he can’t spray out of cage marking his territory – so he looks like simba sitting on it on pride rock!) and his ware plastic large tunnel.
He has baby links and a wicker bird toy in there too but he just likes to admire them in there artist wall hanging state

I had plans of a all natural looking indoor hutch – fiddlesticks , ware logs , wooden hideaways and bridges , logs etc
That’s all out the window now with a big fat red REJECTED stamp

Now I need some ideas for plastic furniture and toys and a layout plan – I still want it to look good – not like I have just chucked in whatever as his hutch is in the
        lounge

Plastic doll furniture? Beds, baths, chairs etc. For toys you can use plastic baby keys, plastic bird toys, stacking cups.

You may find that once he’s been with you a while longer and you have him desexed, that he may not pee on wooden things that you introduce to him. Another option is when you get something new that’s wooden, take a blanket from his cage (assuming he has one) and rub it on and wrap it around the new toy for a day or two before you give the toy to him, it may help it to smell like him so he will be less inclined to mark.

Great idea with the blanket thing! I put the blanket in or on the new thing but didn’t think of wrapping and rubbing for a day before hand!
Will def try it after he is neutered
I’ve been looking at plastic doll beds but having trouble finding any bigger than barbie doll size ( too small ) – I might hunt Amazon

Ikea Doll beds are all the rage on the House Rabbit Society’s FB page. Most of the bunnies actually seem to like laying on them. I’d be worried they would chew them but they are super cute and the right size. We don’t have an Ikea here unfortunately, or I’d def be tempted.

They are wooden though so Oakley would pee on it

A small beach ball. Chewie’s was a huge hit. Also, a plastic slinky.

An elevated pet bed hammock? Mine all love theirs and they are easy to wash and quick to dry, so even if he did pee on it, not a big problem.

What does it look like? We have limited options in nz so I tend to buy on Amazon or eBay if you have a link or a picture so I can hunt one out would be awesome
I retried wood again today but it’s still a no go … he gets neutered in 2 weeks so will try again once the hormones settle.
In the meantime I just brought him another plastic tunnel ( so he has a green one and a purple one now) , he has his step stool , a woven carrot , baby keys , a parrot toy (which is plastic chain link with willow balls ) and baby links

His play area pen is boring though – I had ware logs Hutt but he pees on that , a cat tunnel which he suddenly doesn’t like anymore this week , so now it’s just a wicker basket ( which he has tried to pee on 4 times but missed!)

Oh yes I have that one on my list
Our cheap stores used to have them but I have been hunting to no avail … will keep looking though I’m not sure if Oakley will like them as he doesn’t touch his keys yet which I thought may be he was too young when I got them but he’s almost 12 weeks old now and still won’t touch them

Mine don’t like their keys either but they can’t resist knocking the cups down

Chewie ignored his keys too, until i started plopping them down between his front paws – he couldn’t resist having them under his booplesnoot and started to toss them with gusto
