So I do not know what to do about my bunny’s dirty spot. He just looks dirty! However, I tried a baby wipe to clean it. I also scrubbed it with a wet towel. It does not come off. I saw someone with a post saying how their rabbit is probably changing colors. I am not sure if this is the case. As usual, he hates his bath. Water alone won’t get this off. I wouldn’t know which shampoo to use if I were to try and bathe him again. What should I do?!

He is a white bunny and the mark looks like a large arrowhead or something. I sometimes think this is probably just a spot on his back that he cannot reach to clean himself.

I have also been trying to clean under his tail. He has been going insane with urinating everywhere since he is currently undergoing his teenage phase. I try to rub the yellow with wet paper towels or baby wipes as soon as he is done peeing. It does not fully work. He is starting to look like a dirty bunny and I do not like it! AHHH!!!

Perhaps it’s not dirt, but some sort of rash or scab?
what is the texture like? is it on his fur or skin?

It’s best not to give bunnies a water bath because it can stress them sick….it is necessary when they are REALLY FILTHY like covered in mud or feces etc. Do some Googling for how to properly bathe a bunny…it usually involves just baby powder

If you get him neutered, he will probably stop spraying urine, too! Good luck with him..he looks so adorable

Thank you! thank you!! He is very handsome

I do plan on getting him neutered to help with many things haha!

Here is a picture of what the spot looks like.

It is a LITTLE darker in person

I had no idea baby powder would clean him. How would I go about it? Do put some on then brush it off?

It might be a color development. I would leave it be. Unless its urine scald or runny butt there’s not usually a need to help rabbits groom. They are very efficient on their own. He may possibly be mixed with some brown. It also looks like he’s might be shedding in that spot from the picture. Is the area that is brownish shorter and/or softer? If that’s the case is just new fur growing in and no worries.

He’s a cutie. Reminds me of my himalayan mix, Sweets. (her ears changed colors after I got her and she’s over a year old)

The pic looks like it is shady that is developing. Some bunnies change color a bit as they age. I like to think of it at baby fuzz and their adult coat is different than their baby coat. Like Frankie said, he is probably shedding his old coat out. I would not worry about wiping the pee off of his rear. Bunnies usually take care of that themselves. Sometimes Leopold will have what looks like a stain and it will disappear after he thoroughly grooms himself.

Yeah, that doesn’t look like dirt to me. More like a color shading change.

Nermals fur does that and she is almost indentical to Enzo. Her father is a white angora with soft himalayan points and his mother is a silver marten (see miy sig) they produced a range of colours. Nermal was returned to me by the people who adopted her as they did not feel the kids (now studying) could give her the time. Since returning home her tail has turned a deep cinnamon colour (which is adorable) and she has developed a light cinnamon frosting all over her coat, very subtle, just on the tips of her fur. It started in a similar way to Enzo’s

Oh and Baby Powder… Do Not Use Talcum… Only the pure cornstarch powder…

I think I saw your post on how your bunny’s ear color changed. This is why I thought this is what was happening to him. However, when examining the fur, I noticed the color is only on the tips of the fur, rather than from the root

Would that be the same thing? Since he is just a few months, I can understand that he might be growing his winter coat; however, I do not understand the color if it is just on the tips of that area.

                        Is that normal?

I wrote that last post without reading Roberta’s post! So I guess it seems that his color is changing which is interesting! How long does it usually take to evenly take place? I assume he is growing his winter coat. Would he be able to fully do that being that he is only a little over three months old?

By the way, thanks so much for your help everyone

as well as the compliments! I really appreciate them!

Yes, they can have shading that is just on the tips. It can take their first major shed or it can take a few sheds. It just depends.

That’s how Nermals started, it looked like a dirty patch on her flank the size of a tea saucer and now she has this soft cinnamon frosting all over just on the very tips of her fur. I have been trying to get a pic of her tail but every time I move in with the camera she flicks it up so you can only see the white underside.

Oh, Nermal Turned 1 in November. Her rotten sister Pipi pinched her birthday present this morning and destroyed it. Dragged the whole plushie through the X pen bars to do it too. Today I bought her a blue elephant and a hanging toy with a bell to replace it.

Yeah, Squirrel’s fur color changed a smidge at that age, his main body fur got a tad darker at the tips, so he has frosting now

the darker fur looks shorter — looks like molting with new fur (slightly different coloring/shading) coming in.

I think BB is right – it looks like the fur is shorter so perhaps skin showing thru the shorter hair?
