I picked up my bunnies last night on the way back from the airport! It must have been an odd angle in the picture I got of them beforehand, because they’re both big! It looked like one of them was smaller. The people I rescued them from, because of overcrowding and neglect, let me have a cage also. It still looks too small for the rabbits, though she said it was the perfect size. I trust you guys will give me the real deal! It looks like it’s about 2 foot and a few more inches long and 1 foot and a few more inches wide. Maybe 2 feet high as well. It’s a bit cold in my room so I put a fleece blanket in there for them. I’ll get some picture up soon once I unpack my camera from my luggage! But it looks like you guys were right. One of them is a lop mix with siamese coloring, but the other one I’m still not sure. The hair around his face reminds me of a lionhead, but then he just has normal fur on the rest of his body.

Also, I can’t figure out what to name them. Anyone have any helpful suggestions? Here’s their picture again:

I agree that is too small – bigger is better. I say the bare minimum is 4 feet by 4 feet with alot of out time eventually. I think an x-pen is your best deal.

As far as breeds most likely based on their situation they are definitely mixes which are the best breed in my opinion.

Yeah that’s way too small! X-Pens are great for rabbits!! Go to Bunny Info and scroll down to Cool Habitats. It’ll give you some ideas!

As for their names – take your time naming them. I think once you spend some time with them their names will come to you.

They’re both so pretty! Forgive me, but I don’t remember if they’re girl/girl, boy/boy or boy/girl. That will help with the naming. It can be fun to name after duos, like Bonnie & Clyde.

You might want to keep the small cage after you get a new set up for them in case they ever have any issues and need to be separated. (Like if one gets sick and shouldn’t be near the other for a day or two.)

Congrats! I would also recommend the xpen. That will be a good size for them to have room to move about. It’s very easy to set up and take down and clean.

It’s exciting to bring home new rabbits… congrats! I’d love to see more photos!
How are they doing in terms of settling in with you?

Congrats on your new furry babies!  They are so adorable!  My rabbits also enjoy a pen.  Switching from a cage to a pen made a world of difference!  I love being able to walk by and just reach over and pet them instead of squating down and unlocking cages and trying to reach in.  They seem MUCH happier too!!  Good luck!

Update: I’ve finally decided on their names! Groucho (Lionhead mix) and Gizmo (Lop mix). Groucho because the coloring on his mouth looks almost exactly like the moustache of Groucho Marx. Gizmo because he’s the friendlier, more submissive rabbit, which reminds me of Gizmo from Gremlins.

Note: I’ve just realized that all of our names end in “o”, including mine.

As far as settling in goes, they’re becoming more comfortable with me as the hours roll by. At first, they were very afraid and just stared at me in fear. Groucho is more skiddish than Gizmo also. However, I can open the cage and put toys in without them freaking out. They’re not aggressive at all. Just sniff whatever I’m putting in.

After getting the advice here, I’m definitely going to get one of those xpens too!

Sounds like you haven’t been able to tear yourself away from them! They do have that affect on people. Congratulations on getting them home safe. Fun times ahead for Marco, Groucho and Gizmo!
