        It’s happening.  The baby bunny boys are now at the point where they don’t want to be handled much.  The squirm away when we pet them, they run when we attempt to pick them up, and they even prefer to stay in their cage than come out to play.

        Digger nipped both of my girls today.  He hasn’t tried to nip me yet but now neither one of them want to stick their hands in his cage.

        Thumper is the same.  keeps to herself and is happy upstairs.

        I knew it was going to happen (well not the nipping thing) but it still makes me sad that my babies are growing up.  They still aren’t ready to be neutered yet.

        ::sigh::

              i’d recommend that the girls don’t put their hands inside any of the bun’s cages. they can be very territorial of their space, even post-neuter/spay. the best and safest way for them to interact with them is when they are out of the cage.

                  Poor T&RMom! I hope it gets easier once they’re fixed!

                  You may still have to do some behavior-training afterwards… I got Lizzy already fixed, and she was a territorial snot. She pounced and growled and bit occassionally. I’m a snot, too, though, and refused to be intimidated by my own fur-faced critter, and after some altercations, I proved I was top-bunny, and now Lizzy’s a darling.

                  It might be frustrating, but I’m sure you’ll get through it, and all the buns will love you again! Lizzy runs over when I walk by and begs for pets, now, which I would have thought IMPOSSIBLE when I first got the aggressive bratty-bun 3 months ago (when the very sight of me sent her into snarls and endless stink-eye)!

                  You know animals, and love them, and I’m sure you’ll figure it out…and of course I’m sure we’ll all help when we can!

                  Much luck to you!

                      Digger didn’t nip when we first brought him home. That’s a new thing since his neuter. My girls are 10 and 13 so they aren’t little and they aren’t rough. They now both refuse to reach in his cage. My 10 year old is the one who feeds him his greens every day so I’m very suprised he’s acting that way with her. Maybe he’s just a mommy’s boy? Because he still runs up to me and begs for attention when I put my hands in there. I love all of my bunnies but I think Digger is my soul bunny. There’s just something about him that feels a little more special than the babies, which I guess is fine since the girls each claimed one of the babies and my oldest was chosen by Thumper as her person.

                      The babies aren’t being bratty, they’re just growing up and acting like normal bunnies. They like to be petted but the the days of scooping them up and carrying them around are over. They don’t like to be flipped over any more either, which makes the testicle check a little difficult. And when they have their out of cage time they tend to hover near the condo and run in and out. They’ll settle down back in the condo long before I’m ready to put them away. Maybe they smell the dogs and feel safer in the condo?

                      I *think* Thumper is a girl. I still haven’t flipped her over to check. I’m just going by what the Petco people told me, not that they have any reason to know. I’m sure they didn’t check.
