So. My Bun has always really liked my dog. He knows how to “test” her limits, and he’ll bite her pr jump on her to get her to chase him. He *loves* it when she chases him. the moment she turns her head he turns around and chases her. My dog doesn’t really get it, but my bunny is completely enamoured with her. He follows her around, and will try to follow her out the door when she leaves. Once, she hurt her leg and we had to borrow a crate from the vet to keep her from moving it. It was downstairs and he is upstairs. she didn’t come upstairs for a couple of months. I didn’t get why, but he was listless, bored, he wasn’t binkying or playing anymore, and then I relaised he misses the dog! When I finally got to let the dog back in he ran at her like a bad slow motion romance movie.
anyway: lately he has been copying her behavior. She sniffs the floor a lot, and on one time I caught him following behind her with his nose to the ground sniffing, just like her. We now have doggy stairs for her to get on my bed, and when she’s in the room, he uses them. He doesn’t use them if she isn’t in the room. The other night the dog had to go to the bathroom, so she scratched to be let out. when I came back, i didn’t bring the dog. The rabbit started scratching the door to be let out, just like the dog! and today, I caught him sleeping in a position she always uses. I’ve never seen him in this position. He had one leg sticking out, and it was so strange for him, that i took a picture and checked his leg for injuries. I’m not sure if that part was him copying the dog, so I included a picture. he also started getting into the bags of trash when i cleaned my room, something else he learned from the dog.
Is this normal? He only really started copying her recently. My mother says that they “are just bonding.” But, i’m not sure. The dog is oblivious. He is about two now, and he’s never copied her until now. should I be worried, or should I let it go?
