My Bun Boys

Well I have a thread for Tenzin and I posted some pictures of the new boy in the welcome section but I thought making a thread for both boys would be easier  

Tenzin is my 6 month old ( newly neutered)  Holland lop. The new buy is a 2 year old neutered I believe Netherland / dutch mix. 

They have not been introduced yet. Tenzin needs another 3 weeks before he can meet anyone. 

The new boy I am still working on a name for, I want to have him see the vet and be sure he is in fact a male before I decide on a name.

I will say … When I first Saw my new boy I wasn’t sure … I wanted another Holland lop, or a mini rex …  but looking at his teeny cage I had to get him out of there. But he has such a great personality and he loves to explore. Plus Tenzin and him couldn’t care less about each other. I think I won the bunny lottery

They are both adorable! I have a weakness for lops, but they’re both perfect…that little white nose on your new guy is so sweet!

So far they completely ignore each other lol. If this keeps up the hard part will be getting them to realize each other exists.

I have no problem with them ignoring each other Its making their own lives easier right now. Tenzin isn’t stressed while he is recovering and the new guy is settling in without worrying about Tenzin.

Two more weeks and I plan to start introducing my boys Since Tenzin won’t tolerate being picked up ,finding a spot may be difficult. But wherever I can get him I can easily pick up my new boy and take him there. First though I am going to let them meet through the bars, they are very use to each other since they do have pens that are side by side. but I have a 3 inch gap between them so they can not harm each other.

I will start a thread on the bonding section when I do start their bonding.

Good news though. My new boy seems to like his hay better than the crud they sent him with, he is getting use to his new food, and he seems to be drinking well from his bowl.

Once the boys are bonding my first order is toys

Well first we need to confirm that my new boy is in fact a boy and healthy lol.

I did call the vet they said neutered him, and they had a rabbit his size neutered last year.

I ordered a couple of new things for my boys, Mostly to make my life easier which will benefit them as well. 

I love that I no longer have to get IN their pens to give them more hay. and the hay rack and litter box line up very well.

Well new boy didn’t like that I moved his litter box and pooped in the corner … So I moved his litter box back lol.

And thanks I can’t wait to give both boys the full 8’x4′ rub.

No they don’t flop next to each other, I haven’t begun real intros yet and usually they ignore each other for food lol

I plan to start intro’s on the 10th, the same day as Tenzins neuter was. I can’t wait.

And they are in for a big surprise once they bond … I am going to give them a bunch of toys. I would now … but I don’t want to give them more to be possessive over.

Well we have decided to make it official … His name is Bumi We will probably still call him Oreo with our vet just to avoid issues at the vet … Bumi ( Boom- ee) is not the easiest name to pronounce and most would not understand why we chose such an odd name.

Thanks Tenzin and Bumi are brothers in the show and VERY different … So it kind of works. Tenzin is the serious one and Bumi is the outgoing crazy one. Also kinda like my boys. Tenzin regularly throws half the food from my hand when he jams his face in the bowl lol.

hahaha, I love them pushing their noses through the bars. That’s too cute! Looks like they have an awesome setup! I can’t use hay racks with either of mine…I think they see it as a challenge. How fast can we get the hay down and all over the floor?!

I really want to get a tunnel though! Do your boys play in theirs?

I liked the hay bags better but I got tired of getting in their cage all the time. 

As for the tunnel I keep forgetting to use it lol.

Both of mine just eat hay out of a box, haha. Toby and I have finally come to an understanding about his litter/hay setup and all is well. KitKat’s is in a cardboard box, in the corner of her cage…so she can eat the hay and chew on the box at the same time. seems to work for her so far. That’s how I do hay for the guinea pigs too.

My boys are very polite The first few days they try to rearrange anything new and when I keep fixing it, They learn and just leave it be. Their boxes and such they are welcome to rearrange.

Bumi and Tenzin are adorable! I hope they bond smoothly/quickly. I can’t wait to see cuddle/grooming pics!

I only have another week until I start the bonding. Tenzin has had no hormonal issues so I could start now but I am going to just wait the minimum 4 weeks to be safe.
