Hey everyone! Okay, so Daisy(female) and Coco(male) were fixed 5 days ago. Our vet told us to wait 10 days prior to introducing the two. She gave us a few suggestions in which were: 1. Only have them around each other for 15 minuets 3x in one day. 2. Have them eat next to each other so they are distracted by that but realize they are doing the same thing right next to each other. 3. Place a dab of vanilla extract on both of their noses and near their butt so they smell the same to each other. Due to me being at my boyfriends house A LOT, we want these two bunnies to be friends. Do any of you have other suggestions on how to bond these two?

Once 2 rabbits are bonded, they are generally bonded for the rest of their lives. this means they cant ever be separated. Rabbits dont make ‘friends’, not like dogs that will play with each other or whatever. SO unless you are planning on moving your rabbit in with your boyfriend permanently, and keeping the rabbits together, this probably wont be a good idea.

Only bond if either of you is willing to give up their rabbit. As Dface stated, bonded rabbits dont make friends. Once they bond, they become heavily depressed and stressed out from being separated. Stress and depression can kill a rabbit within days and can cause stasis within hours.

I agree with what has been said. Only bond the rabbits if they are to live together all the time. Otherwise, your rabbit will need to remain with you and the rabbit belonging to your boyfriend’s sister would need to remain with her.  It wouldn’t be good at all for them to meet for “playdates”.

Also, rabbits will likely still be hormonal 10 days after spay and neuter surgery. If you do decide that the pair can live together permanently at one of your homes, you would need to wait longer before starting the bonding process. A month would be a lot better than starting bonding in 10 days.
