Hello everyone! So mars usually has full access to the whole house but my family and I have decided to put up some baby gates to restrict his access to the kitchen. We had been noticing that anything you spill he immediately picks up and most of the time they aren’t so good for him. For instance I accidentally dropped a chili and in a split second he had gobbled it up (that vet visit was NOT fun) also, it’s nice not having bunny fur in your food lol! Even though he still has access to the rest of the first story and all of the second story of my house he is kind of sad. He just sits in front of the gate and stares at the kitchen. It’s hilarious it sad at the same time. Honestly, I’m thinking of taking them down just to make him happy. Even though it sounds silly, my heart aches when he’s just sitting there staring at the fridge. Should I let him back into the kitchen or keep the baby gates up?

I would personally keep the gate up hahah! Magpie only has access to one room because of a family member’s asthma, so she doesn’t pout about it much.
But a friend’s bunnies do this, lol! They don’t let them though, because they have angoraas, talk about bunny hair in your food ?

If he gets into health-hazardsble when he has access to the kitchen, the only reasonable thing is to keep him from accessing the kitchen. Maybe you could drape something over the baby gate (like a bed sheet or sth) until he “forgets” the kitchen is here? Rabbits can become obsessed with places they can’t go, like if you block off the sofa. But after while the rabbit seem to “forget” the sofa was ever there and you can often even unblock it, it’s nolonger part of the bun’s sphere of interest.

I can very well imagine how sad (and a little funny) it must look when he just sits there, longing to be in the kitchen! But safety comes first with buns, just like with children!
