It might seem like a silly question but I have my bunnies’ pens set up in my lounge, which is where I have all my hi-fi stuff as well and so far I’ve refrained from playing music in the lounge since I’ve had them. I thought they’d probably prefer not to listen at Pearl Jam et al at the kind of volumes I like!

So, do any of your bunnies actually like music, and if so, what do they like?!

        Do they binky to Brahms?

Do they foot-flick the Foo Fighters?

        Do they pur to Pink?

I played some jingle bells Perry Como Christmas music in Dec. and when he heard the loud sleigh bells at the beginning, Buddie dove into his tunnel. But when I played A Charlie Brown Christmas his nose seemed to wiggle up and down in time to the beat with Vince Guaraldie’s snare drum in his rhythm & blues! I’ve come to the conclusion that Buddie likes music, mostly whatever I’m listening to. But he especially likes a nice beat! He seems to enjoy listening to the rock music on the radio too.

Leroy doesn’t particularly like the music I like (rock alternative, some hard rock) I think because he’s scared of it, but he LOVES Christian rock. Even when he’s at his most naughty, when I tune into K Love, he’ll calm down and just sit there, wiggling his nose and chilling out.

Oh and he also likes when I sign to him!

I haven’t really played music for my bun at all, but I’ve had many gerbils who loved listening to me play the cello 🙂 They would always come out and watch me while I played. Someday I’ll pull my cello back out and see if Otto likes it.

I put on talk radio for my bunnies. I don’t know what they think of it because I always put it on and then leave. Tunes might be nicer for them, but it is a talk radio show about art, and my bunnies need to be cultured.

I haven’t tried different types of music on Samantha, but I know she likes it.
bunnies have musical taste, too. Different bunnies have been written up with different preferences.

KytKattin, my friend’s dogs would have NPR on all day while she was away. I’ll have Watson call your bunnies for a lively debate on the pros and cons of modern art.

Vader just loves having the TV on. Or if I’m on the couch watching a movie on my laptop, he’ll sit on the back of the couch and watch the screen.

hehe! I went to school briefly for voice (was going to be an opera singer) but didn’t enjoy it and transferred to English. But often, when I sing, the bunnies stop what they’re doing and lift their heads like they’re listening.

                        It’s CUTE!

I have my cd alarm clock set to go off during the morning for Bunny to listen to. The cd he listens to is called Bach, Nature Quest or something like that.
It is classical music with nature sounds blending between songs for a relaxing segue. I also listen to it when I am reading with him or going to sleep..
so really we listens to it a lot, I think he likes it.

He is a big fan of the tv being on too. If it is too quiet, than every little creek he hears commands his attention, and in an apartment building, that can get annoying.

Ken is a musician so the bunz get plenty of music.  Their bedroom shares a common wall with his studio.  They tend not to move around much when he plays with the amp (door closed), but when he has one w/o in the family room they hang out close by.  Not to change the subject to another animal but I was staying at my friend Al’s house for a week to care for his brown lab, cinammon (Cin).  I felt bad leaving during the day so I left “Animal Planet” on the TV…mistake!  She evidently tried to attack the animals and almost knocked the TV off the dresser.  When Al got home I mentioned the Animal Channel & he gasped…she already knocked one TV off while watching the show .  Guess he already learned…the hard way!

I have noticed that Winston Perks up when he hears the blues!
Classical can be hit or mis with my buns – depends on the instruments and how loud.
I think they would be terrified If I played some of J’s industrial German Metal – ha, ha, ha!

Monkeybun:  Interesting…Ken is my little brother and we moved into our folks house when they passed to get the house ready to sell & found we got along well so decided to give it a try & 4 years later, still works well.  He is the one that got the first bun.  Phineaus was 4 when he passed…cancer.  Then we got “our” two & it is such a blast!  I could watch them for hours (and sometimes do).  Not too productive though.  I call Al “my pal Al”.  I’ve known him since we were 7 & I work for him as well.  He is by far my best male friend.  I’ll have to tell them about your Ken & Al !!!

Hmm I have some classical on light classical.  Haven’t noticed any activity from my buns

When I clean I sometimes put on some nasheeds.  Cotton will come to supervise when I do that.

I had some good classical on last time I cleaned and they seemed to be more active.

OH  I tried some of that relaxing stuff with animal sounds.  Cotton came out and looked around when he heard the birds on the cd lol

A dog who attacks the tv animal planet   how funny

Layla was one of our bunnies “given” name at the shelter.  We ended up renaming her “Lainey”…she was just too mischevious to fit into the Layla name!  Now we refer to her as “Zany Lainey”.  I went to your profile to see if you had pics ’cause the one shown is a bit hard to see.  Then I went to your website…WOW.  I bookmarked it so when I get some spare time I’ll check it out further.  The pics are really nice.  My dad was quite talented and dabbed in watercolors but the vivid colors are sure nice.  I also see you do crafts.  My obsession is making jewelry with swarovski crystals & always use 14K gold or Sterling Silver.  I’ve yet to sell any…just give them away.  Pretty expensive hobby since I’m terrible about taking money from friends, but I really enjoy it.  Good luck with your site!!!

And, sorry for going so far off subject !

I leave the TV on for my buns if I’m gone for a while. I left it on Animal Planet for a while but then I was wondering if they could get freaked out by some animal noises? Like lions and the such. Do you think that’s possible?

I will sometimes put the radio on the classical station, and at first they seem interested and then they just relax. I’m not sure if it’s one of those things that ends up being “background” noise for them, because I when I observe them, they will still be alerted to very “light” noises in their surroundings that seems new.

Since the weather is getting warmer here, i can crack the windows, and they seem to enjoy listening to all the outdoor sounds. And now that they have the window seat box, they both seem to be enjoying going up there– (even Jack who used to be afraid to go up there except if he wanted to chase Vivian down) They just seem to like to sit in their hidey box up there and listen right near the window .

max and penny rock out to classic rock a lot- they love it. especially with lots of base. penny prefers hip hop, but max is definitely a rock fan. new boy however hates everything lol i think he’s still unsure about this new environment so i keep the music low
