I know rabbits can have mulberry LEAVES.  But what about mulberry fruit?   My friend’s rabbit has some mulberry fruit on her feet and licked it and now my friend is worried.

I’m sorry, I’m not much help here…I have been searching and can find very little good or bad about the actual berries. Haven’t found anything that says they are toxic and I only found one recommendation  for the actual berries on the Etherbun forum (yahoo group) — but again, it’s the net, so hard to know.

Most likely all is just fine, and it doesn’t sound like there was a bunch of it anyway… just have your friend keep a close eye on her for any digestive upsets.

Thanks for looking too! We couldn’t find much either. Like I said, all I found was about leaves and how they were good to feed if you’re trying to get them to gain weight. lol I told her as her bunny just licked her feet a bit, she should be fine as she didn’t eat the actual fruit.

This is good to know, I have a mulberry tree in my backyard. The only thing I can say about the berries is in the spring flocks of tiny finches come here to eat berries and poop purple all over the cars on the block. ;-(

I think another name for mulberries is wild raspberries, I grow up in a family of outdoorsman, and they call them both mulberries AND wild raspberries. So maybe it might help to search them as wild raspberries.
