Last night, I was in the bunny room while my dad sat in the next room over (the main downstairs rec-room). I decided I would sit out with him and watch the end of the basketball game. I thought I had closed the door (really just a piece of plywood that slides across the door-space) all the way…But it was open about 2 inches…

So, 10 minutes later, as I sit in front of the TV, I see a shadowy bunny-like figure out of the corner of my eye…and it hops back behind the chair next to me. So, knowing something wasn’t right, I got up…And saw Mr. Bunny sniffing around between our ping-pong table and a chair. I snatched him up and carried him back to the bunny room. I have no idea how he fit any more than his head and his front paws maybe through the open door, but he did.

Did I mention the rooms he got into were anything but bunny-proofed? He didn’t chew anything though, I think he heard me talking in the other room and hopped over to see where I was. I just wanted to share!

He sounds like one smart bunny and a people lover too – that’s a great combination!

That is too cute! HE missed you and wanted to hang out!

Doesn’t matter where Boston is, she has this “bedroom door is open radar” and sneaks in before we ever realize…and like your rooms, our bedroom is not bunny proofed at all!!!

Too cute!!!! My Lily has some sort of obsession with the laundry room door and I do not want her behind the washer and dryer!! I swing this door shut but don’t latch it (as my cats have their litter box in there) and I have to keep a good eye on her. She attempts to push the door open and I go and swing it shut again- something about a forbidden room that intrigues them I suppose! Furry kids! hehe

How high is this plywood? I just thought maybe he peeked thru the gap, assessed that there was a safe landing area on the other side, then jumped over the top. Sounds a bit out there but never under estimate a rabbit!

The plywood is at least 4 feet high

Good thing he didn’t get into trouble! We used a babygate over here but at one point, we totally gave up and decided to give the bunnies free-range of the whole place. We removed the x pen and everything else, just because I felt awful closing them in. Of course, now that they are allowed to, Velvet and Dancer never come into the living room. Never. There is nothing that holds them back – but they don’t want to be in the living room. It makes life easy on us and them. The kitchen and dining room are absolutely bunny-proof. The rest of the house is too but hey, if they don’t want to, that’s fine.
