Ok, I am freaking out a little bit. I just looked at the calender and noticed… WE ARE MOVING IN 6 DAYS!!!! AHHHHH![]()

I haven’t done any packing of the bunnies stuff besides what I packed 3 months ago and a box of towels/fleece! I have a whole bunch of the rabbits junk in the garage ( a HUGE shelf worth) and also some stuff in my closet! I feel like I can’t pack anything because I will need it in the next few days or I will need it right when we get to our new place! Does that make sense? I really need tips for packing and if any of you guys have moved with rabbits before, PLEASE share your experiences! I am so overwhelmed I just kind of sit on the computer to block my mind from all the work that needs to get done. Please help! ![]()

If you need it after you move, pack it. Label the box so you can find it fast. Only keep out necessities. toys wont be needed, extra anything but what is needed for these 6 days. ![]()
Thanks monkeybun! I just took down all my extra NIC grids like my hay rack and NIC shelf. Then I cleaned the zipties off the floor which was really difficult with a hurt knee. It involved scooting on the floor on my butt! haha!
I just moved in March from a house (Sammy had a room) to staying with family and putting stuff into storage, so I know exactly what you’re going through.
I had a piece of furniture, a cabinet, that was for bunny stuff. So I consolidated all the things I won’t be using now into that. I was pretty ruthless about throwing out stuff like old spare bags of food (hurricane supplies for bunny was 2 years old), and toys that were ignored longer than a year. I took apart her tunnel and cottage since she won’t use it here, but that was wrapped in trash bags and put in the cabinet. Same with spare food and water dishes.
I brought two plastic containers, small, and a covered trash can with her current supply of: fresh food, ie. pellets & hay, medical supplies, treats, spare toys she does like, spare blankie and written info. I might have. One container has daily food only, so it is neat but handy in the new home. The other is hidden behind a chair, so it’s easy to get to but out of sight. The rest is in storage, but keep it near the front so you can access it later on.
Her xpen, carpets, dishes, hidey boxes, and litter came the day of the move. (I store the litter supplies in a bag in the garage, too.)
When you move, set up Mocha’s habitat first, exactly the same in layout as it is now. You want it to be as familiar as possible. Be sure to lay down any floor protective covering you may be using first, and also sweep or vacuum first. Even if it’s temporary, put the set up into an inactive room where you can shut the door while finishing the move in the rest of your home. The idea is to make it seem familiar, quiet, and not able to view chaos if you can do it.
Put the water dish, pellets, hay and greens, and clean litter pan, in there right away. Now bunny is good for several hours. One suggestion that always helps in a move is designating one clean room for yourself before unpacking the rest. It’s your resting place when you get exhausted. It can be a bedroom, but it can also be bunny’s room with a comfy chair and maybe the TV so you can relax together.
Well, if you have it out in the garage on a shelf, there’s a good chance you don’t need that :~) You just need the essentials anyway – toys, etc…can be packed up, tossed, or given away if it’s been awhile since they’ve played with them.
Moving is a good time to declutter and just take what you need.
Almost forgot: if you have a shelter nearby, make a “bunny Goodwill” bag and donate some used stuff that you don’t want to take but could be cleaned for a shelter bunny to enjoy. I actually got rid of my old cage (donated to my vet for her boarding bunnies) when I got an xpen.
The hard part is we don’t have a house yet… We are moving into my grandparents and they will be staying in their basement until we have our house is built. They are going to be staying in their old condo because it is easier with cleaning. The stuff in the garage is mostly stuff that I don’t have in my room because it is to big (like the maze haven, cotton tail cottage, tunnel haven, hidey house etc,) I do have old litter boxes I never threw away (gross! haha) I have a few stuff I could donate but I don’t have time to run over their before the move. the things I think I will need is listed below

. emergency kit and brushes
. broom and dust pan

Smoothest move ever: I bought computer mailing labels-I printed two sheets each that had a big bold word for the room I wanted the stuff in at the NEW house. So upstairs bathroom, kitchen, living room etc.
I also bought TONS of big plastic storage bins to use to pack with instead of cardboard boxes, easier to pack, easier to move, and bonus-I have an organized storage room now!
Get two or three tape guns, and lots of permanent markers-and just get packing!!
I packed all my clothes on the hangers-and I left everything that was in drawers, in the drawers, taping the furniture shut. Worked like a charm
As I packed, I put the easy to read sticker on the box, and then wrote EXACTLY what was in the box (I always get lazy doing this, and almost stop at the end, this time I didn’t).
All the boxes ended up in the right rooms and we were unpacked in two days.
PS I did the packing in one night and the following am while watching Vampire Diaries. We literally have way too much stuff-4 computers per person, two sets of couches, three dining room tables-WAY Too much stuff, but it was quick and easy and the guys put all the stuff in the correct rooms.
Pet stuff was easy-I keep food, hay, litter etc in storage bins-so the guys just picked them up. The bunnies I take over with me (As soon as their room is set up) in their travel kennels. And all that extra bunny stuff that accumulates-can all be packed ahead of time
Have a friend over, put the TV on and get to work ![]()
