We are currently moving house while I’m on an overseas holiday. I have left my boyfriend in charge of moving the rabbits and am worried he will forget or do something wrong.

What advice or tips can anyone share on moving house.

The new house is only a short car ride away (20 mins, 40 in peak hour) and we are currently on both leases as they overlap. Would it be a good idea to give our rabbits a few hours a couple of times a week at the new house so then don’t get a huge shock when they are moved for good, or will that just confuse and over stimulate them?

Our Rabbits are both under a year old and have not been neutered as we are having trouble figuring out which the dominant one is as each day it seems to be different.

        (edit was gramatical)

I would just do one move, as constant change can be stressful.

Are you going to get both neutered? it would be beneficial if you do. Unaltered buns cant really bond properly otherwise.

Our local vet suggested one would be fine (but i think that was more as a cost efficient way)

So I think we will get both done

Both need to be neutered, IMO. Any rabbit can be dominant, and it will help them healthwise to get them both fixed.

I agree with Monkeybun, just get the move done with

The most that you will get is thumping, and poops out of the litter box (marking their new place). The rabbits will adjust.

If you can ask your boyfriend to take the rabbits to the new place and set up an area for them 1st, that should help them settle. A quiet zone where they have familiar things around them. So their cages or pens set up the same as you have them now. There’s going to be new smells and sounds that they;re going to have to become familiar with, so it’s important they feel they’re in a “safe-zone”. Too much freedom in a new space would be overwhelming and frightening. Even when he gets there initially, he could leave them in their carriers for an hour to acclimatise.

For your own piece of mind, be sure your bf understands the way they are contained is super-duper secure. So they can’t jump out or break free of a cage etc. There’ll be a lot coming and going and doors left open etc. I imagine he’d ensure this anyway but it never hurts to go over these things…

I hope it all goes well! As ChaCha says, they will adjust.
