        Hi, MB,

I just saw your pix in another thread in the diet section, but didn’t want to hijack the thread. It’s a great shot of your habitat, and I noticed that you have your xpen set directly on your carpet. What is you floor cover made out of? How do you clean it? How is the carpet underneath holding up?

I have made mine out of tiles stuck to a sheet of plastic, covered with a thin cotton fabric, but the edges of the tiles are getting misaligned and sticky and I’m not happy with the change.

Thanks. Feel free to repost the pix here.

Yes…and we must ask Moosie about what he did to the carpet… *evil laugh*

The thing on the floor was just a little fleece blanket I have for the buns. I have.. 6? of them different colors that I just change out. Right now Monkey has a purple one and Smudge has a yellow one. Moose doesn’t have one now as we moved his pen, and he is able to just bunch it up with the way the pen is now. He did love grooming the blankie though

The carpet underneath it is perfect, the fleece absorbs any accidents.

Moose… became obsessed with the carpet unfortunately He was being naughty and dug out a corner. So that corner is now covered with a piece of cardboard, with a cheap $15 rug on it

edit: I should add… Smudge likes the fleece better than the carpet. She would much prefer it if the entire apartment was carpeted in fleece. She detests walking on the carpet lol. it’s funny the eway she walks on it, like she can’t bear to put her entire foot down on it hehe

                      Nice hab! I have a question though….
Okay, I know where I’m supposed to get the NIC cubes (although I can never find any) but where does one get those nice outer gates for their bunny pens? Mine are large and clunky and impossible to keep clean, these look much easier to handle, and I need something easy for the future.

I think my buns are old enough now, they’re not going to push anything like this over. Which is why I got the heavy gates in the first place, to be sure the buns stayed put. But they take up too much room and I don’t think the buns see us so well through the gaps.

I do like the pen. It’s just an exercise pen that you would buy for a dog, mine had the nice gate to come and go.

I love your use of vertical space too! Best of both worlds!

Looks like maybe a Midwest exercise pen?

That’s something I wonder about with NIC habs, a lot of them go vertical and seem unstable to me. Can the bunnies get up farther than the second shelf, MB? Or is there no higher level than that?
And what did you make the shelves out of, btw? Is that just fabric or is there a firm surface underneath?

oh heck yeah they can get higher. I used the connector bits that came with the grids, so they are a bit more stable than just grids + zipties. Helps that I have bitty bunnies htat aren’t very heavy The shelves are fleece on top of coroplast on top of grids.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure the NIC grids would NOT hold Pip, no matter how they are connected. 0_o
(sure hope she didn’t hear me say that!)
Coroplast…I keep seeing you guys talk about that…where do you find it?

That’s interesting that they love fleece. They don’t chew on it at all? I have covered my flooring with 100% cotton flannel, but fleece is much thicker and softer. Of course, it’s warm down here and though I use AC in the apt. it really doesn’t ever get cold, so she might not need it.

Thanks for all your replies. I am going to start a new post right now because I got fed up today and made a big change. End of tiles. New rug. New flannel.

Moose nibbles on it occasionally, but he drops every bit he nibbles off, he never eats it
